I have had a C Bechstein A1 (6ft) for a month which is a reconditioned 1923 grand. I have just returned to playing the piano after learning as a child (50 yrs ago) following a clumsy attempt on a friend's grand (which sounded wonderful)inspired me to start playing again. However I think I might be having second thoughts about the piano. It sounded incredible at first but now I am thinking the treble especially sounds very harsh and ringing. The keys also make a kind of faint rattling sound - its hard to describe but pressing the keys makes an audible "clack" (nonmusical) sound. They also seem to have a change in the pressure needed to make a sound- they depress half way then seem to have a definite second phase which needs more pressure. Having said all this it hasn't had its "settling in tuning" yet. I didn't think I could have afforded a new piano but am wondering if I should have waited and bought something newer or are these problems something that could apply to new instruments as well?

This would be better posted in the piano forum, but it sounds to me like that piano requires more work.

If you post it on the piano forum, and tell us what work was done to the piano regarding the reconditioning, and perhaps if you want to share, who did the work, we may be able to help you.
