I could be wrong about this, but I seem to recall that when I purchased Pianoteq Stage, Modaart was offering it at a discounted sale price.
I'm interested in upgrading to Standard, but was wondering when/if Modaart offers upgrade pricing at a discount. Would anyone know?
Thanks.

I upgraded from Standard to Pro when they came out with a new version (version 4, I think) and avoided the new-version fee that way. That's a kind of discount. But I've yet to use a Pro feature.

Yes but I don't remember when... I had the Stage and I upgraded to the Standard without discount but with a free instrument. That's how I get the U4.

I just received an email indicating that Pianoteq is now offering 30% off on Stage to Standard Upgrade. Instead of $190, the cost is $133. Perfect timing for you.

Those not in the Eurozone w/ an IP address outside of the U.S. are getting a discount due to the Euro drop. Previously, the EUR:USD 1.3 exchange rate matched the Stage version's 99EUR vs $129 USD price. EUR:USD is now at 1.10 which means Americans with an international VPN connection can buy for 99E which would be $109 USD. (You need a VPN connection to get the Euro prices -- otherwise you continue to see the American $130 USD price.)
Non-American with currencies pegged to the USD (China, Hong Kong, Macau, etc.) get this benefit without the need for VPNs since they automatically get the Euro prices. Same for any other owners of currency that have appreciated against the Euro.

Actually, I just received a newsletter from Modart announcing 30% off the Standard Pianoteq package and 30% reduction for upgrading to standard. Sounds good to me except I already have Pianoteq standard.

I just upgraded Stage to Standard. Cost here in the UK was 77.15 Pounds including VAT.
If interested you'd better be quick as offer ends in a few days,
Ian

What a coincidence!
This post surfaced a few days ago (regarding discounts), and a discount offer comes along from Pianoteq (not being cynical).
I wonder if "Pianoteq" is lurking/listening?

I have received the newsletter of Pianoteq with its promotion BEFORE the one of BestService. In each case, Yesterday.

I just brought it. I had some credits in my paypal account. So I finally bit the bullet. Was interested in it since version 4 and the sale price got me.
All these years playing and I still consider myself a novice.

What's the deal with only being able to buy in Euros? What is this - the middle ages?!
Aussie dollar exchange rates are shocking at the moment - and I hate not knowing how the conversion will work out until I read my credit card statement. Still, kinda tempted...

Do Aussie banks allow online access to your credit card charges? I hate not knowing how the conversion will work out until I read my credit card statement. I see my charges usually within minutes. And the "foreign transaction fee" the next day.

And the "foreign transaction fee" the next day. Yes, we can see that - but only after buying the item. I tend to buy from sites that let me purchase in AUD (or at least USD) so I don't get nasty surprises.

I'm not sure what currencies Modartt supports. All I know is when I use my company VPN (USA) to browse the site, I see USD. When I use my direct internet connection in China, I see Euro prices. For me, the extra 1% currency charge on my credit card still beats the USD prices. Obviously, this is only when buying direct from Modarrt. If you buy from a local reseller in your country, you will pay in your own currency.

Just bought the standard from Modartt's website with 30% off, anyone can get me started to get the most out of it? Everything depends upon what your goals are. If you are trying to learn to play the piano, then I would suggest you just install it and go to the Pianoteq website and download a few of the user made FXP files on the FXP CORNER and load them into the software. They have been developed by users who spend a lot of time tweaking the sound to get it "just right". It is unlikely you can do much better even with hours of "tweaking". However, if your goal is to become good at creating your own piano sound, then load any of the built-in sounds and start changing the parameters and see how the sound changes. There is also a tutorial on the Pianoteq website to get you started with that. You can literally spend hours and hours ... days and days ... months and months ... doing this. It won't improve your piano playing skills but if you enjoy it ... why not ? As I said ... it all depends upon what your goals are. Good Luck

I agree with Don, most of the hard work comes from users that know how in Pro and know the ins and outs of it in detail, which I don't, presumably with per note edits. For me, the main advantage of standard is that you can enjoy those edits made in Pro in full, and not in stage, so just pick a few FXPs that are closest to your liking, beyond that, you can then pick your own velocity settings, then tweak a bit if you like. In particular the hammer hardness is neat if you want to massage the timbre a bit over the range of velocities, impedance is another interesting one, overtones settings, just play around with those sliders, put them to the far extremes and see the difference it makes, you will soon hear the difference. Mostly I just stick with the FXP as is, tweak reverb a bit ( defaults are often quite strong ) and my personal velocity curve, things like that, that's mostly it. The other setting in standard and not on stage I have used an played around with are the microphone setting, this can also make a big difference to me. Personally I am not a big fan of the binaural setting as in pteq. Instead I use the microphones setting, even though I use headphones. Then, another neat trick I found since, if I use Cubase or any DAW you may have, I use an insert effect that adds a bit of crossfeed, ( it adds the sensation of speaker imaging in headphones i.e. a bit of the left speaker sound can be heard in the right and vice versa. Crossfeed, in combination with suitable panning adjustments, the whole thing gives a more spacious sound, and more natural stereo image, when you get it tuned in just right for your headphones and setup, it is like watching a movie with 3D glasses, you can locate the objects around you and pinpoint their distance The same effect can be achieved with sound and headphones. In fact, it is almost spooky, but when I dial it in just right, I can close my eyes, I can put my finger on a key to the left or right, and it just feels like the sound is coming from there, but it needs to be done with subtle amounts, not overdone, it will also depend lot of how good the sound staging is on your headphones out of the box. Open back designs versus close back in the same sort of price range, the former will pretty much always do a better job at it IMO. You could spend a thousand or more USD or whatever your currency or more on a quality headphone amp that has a crossfeed setting, they are not cheap in hardware. No need, The beauty with software is that there are plugins that do just that for free, in VST or whatever format, and do a good job at it, for example BS2B, but google it, some are easily found to try out. More fully fledged DAWs will probably already have that setting included somewhere I guess, like Cubase Full, but I just use the basic Elements edition, it doesn't have such features.

Thanks for the help. After a few days of tinkering with PT5, I found that the sound is a bit to sharp and synthetic for my liking, I prefer a warm, mellowish deep bassy sound like an upright grand or old grand piano. Anyone can recommend me any fxp settings? I already bought the bluether model one instrument as well, but something still doesn't feels right.
