Has Anyone Used Yamaha Custom Audio Backing Tracks?

Because I used to own a Yamaha DP, I still get e-mails from Yamaha Musicsoft.

Today I received an e-mail about Custom Backing Tracks. I wonder whether anyone here has used them?

Although I no longer have a Yamaha DP, my DP set-up does use a mixer and either my iPad or laptop can play mp3's. My questions are:

1. Are these files standard mp3's?

2. Do you get the "full" mp3 along with a "custom mix" to play along with? (Or is the "custom mix" an additional cost?)

3. Can the "custom mix" be re-mixed after the fact? (It doesn't appear to be possible, but I thought that I'd ask...)

4. Does either a lead sheet or any sheet music come with these?

Thanks.

These are good questions and the ones I asked when I called Yamaha MusicSoft helpline. The guy didn't seem to know anything about the custom backing tracks and moreover said no backing tracks (not even the mp3s) would work with my dp (P255) since it wasn't on the list.

I hope someone here might know a little more.

Custom Audio Backing Tracks put the power of choice in your hands. Utilize the Custom Audio Mixer to mix and create MP3's of your favorite songs for a variety of practice or performance scenarios. Each song gives you control over the volume of each channel, making it ideal for solo performers, duos, or singers that need high quality audio tracks to back them up. Learning to play the drums? Make a mix with the drums muted and play along! Singing a song at a friend's wedding? Make a mix with the vocal muted, and sing along! You can even make mixes that isolate the instrument you want to play, and use it as the ultimate reference track. Since the final mix is MP3, you can load your mixes onto your favorite MP3 player, laptop, or Digital Audio Workstation.

1: Standard mp3
2: Just the customized version you made
3: No you would have purchase again and remix.
4: No

I purchased one song to practice with. It worked but if you wanted to buy enough to play a whole gig it could get very expensive fast. I eventually found that making my own tracks in garage band or logic was better for me but I play multiple instruments so adding guitar and bass to a drum track was easy. I have purchased midi files from www.hittraxmidi.com and imported them into my DAW and edited them. Which is much more flexible in what you can do with it.
