Wow, that's kind of crazy. What happens if you have it plugged into the AC outlet and connect the USB after? does it switch to USB power or stay on the AC ?

Hi AS
It was only the lower notes that disappeared. That particular song has a constant bass rhythm hitting 1/8 notes which I'm pretty sure were the reason for the dropout.

It stays on AC if it's turned on already using AC. In fact, if you unplug the USB cable from the back in a situation such as I described initially, it starts right up on AC also.

Keep in mind that most keyboards with onboard sounds require AC power. So Fatar is giving us something extra, but they didn't implement it properly. For me no biggie, just something owners should be aware of.

The new Numa Compact finally arrived from Kraft Music yesterday. It has been on pre-order almost two months.

My first impression is, yes, the action is decent, not overly springy either. Keys are semi-weighted and seem just a little smaller than normal, but I think the action will grow on me. The box says Fatar like action. I am no Fatar expert, but certainly this is a quality instrument.

Nice piano sounds. Since I will be using this piano for mostly jazz, that is most important, and not using this much DP much for all kinds of different sounds. The Wurly sound is good.

I tried it through my Acoustic Image amp that does a great job of reproducing cleary, set on flat, sounded great! Also used the headphones that came as part of the bonus pack, again, liked what I heard. Nice, bright, lively piano sounds. My main DP is a Kurzweil, which is also nice and lively, so very happy the Numa piano sounds have these qualities. As already mentioned in previous post, full bass, perhaps a little thin mid range, and bright upper octave notes. Imagine it will sound even better with a good powered speaker.

More than anything is a kind of wow factor, like, wow, I got this fine instrument, all 88 keys in a piano that even I can pick up with one hand, at 14 pounds, for only $399, plus the nice bonuses of a pedal, decent headphones, speaker cords,a power cord set with all the European variations I could wish for in case I get there, and really a nice, solid orange cardboard box that could be to use as a bag for now if I did not already have one. Again, wow!

All in all, very pleased with the little time I have to play so far. Still need to download the manual. Of all things, when I power it off, it does not completely turn off, have to unplug the power cord but, to be fair, I have not really sat down to thoroughly explore the options yet. I think this is going to work great for when I need to bring a DP to a gig or a jam.

I've touched Numa Compact and I think that it's an honest keyboard. Its sounds are usable and the keybed (TP9 probably...) is OK for that price level. It's too bad that it lacks one or two bass sounds and a split function. It would be a total HIT with those basic extra!
