I found a performance by Khatia Buniatishvili on YouTube I thought was outstanding--and.....along with that a portion at about 8:26 with cello where the sound was especially outstanding.

Can any of you refer me to piano with cello performances you especially enjoyed?

Khatia Buniatishvili-F. Liszt Piano Concerto No.2--YouTube.

The piano is my favorite instrument but the cello can be very beautiful. I find it's mellow tone more pleasing than that of the violin.

This is one of my favorite pieces of all time, though there is a violin in addition to the cello and piano:

My favorite cello piece:

And my second favorite:

.....which I've loved ever since I first heard it played by a talented 15-year-old fellow student at my high school, partnered by our music master (who taught us music history, theory and composition) - other than another budding virtuoso student, he was the only one in the school who had the technique to play the brilliant piano part.

Perhaps the double bass, played by Bozo Paradzik is even more soulful than the cello. Max Bruch Kol Nidrei:

Bennevis,

Always good to hear from you.

Enjoyed your videos of cello and piano. The second video especially struck me with the great sound of that Steinway.

dannylux,

Thank you so much for introducing me to the beauty of the double bass. I've always, in the past, seen them as a superb bass instrument but never guessed they could do so much. I'll be looking for more of same!

Wonderful, soulful.

Thanks to all of you for your responses pertaining to cello and piano.

If you did not--please give the dannylux video of double bass a listen.

I'm heading back there for seconds!

Got to "shopping around" for Double Bass and found this. Talk about moving fingers on the Double Bass. Wow!
