They're pretty mild compared to composers' insults of critics.

Like this acerbic toilet attack from Max Reger:
"I am sitting in the smallest room of my house. I have your review before me. In a moment, it will be behind me!". (In reply to Rudolf Louis's review of his Sinfonietta, Op.90)

I've always enjoyed the one about the teacher - whose identity varies in the telling - being brought a Funeral March On The Death of Beethoven. When he's listened to it through, he says to the student:
"Frankly, I wish you were dead and Beethoven were writing the funeral march."

I got 19, but I noticed that there were never more than two in a row of either composer or pasta and used that successfully on a couple.
