The truth of the matter is that John Cage's pieces have been around forever and this is nothing "new" by any means. Anyone can take objection to the music as it is subjective.

I once witnessed a performance which featured an Accidental Prepared Piano. A pencil was inadvertently knocked into the piano by the performer, who continued on, and the rest of the piece was punctuated by rather peculiar noises whenever the keys just below middle C were played.
