Cool smile

Well, here goes, one of my very favorite pieces, buckle up:

"The Copenhagen Railway steam Galop" by Danish composer Hans Christian Lumbye (1810-1874).

Oh, the yelling at the end of the music: 'Roskilde, Toget kører ikke videre' (Roskilde, the train goes no further) is a part of the piece. That's how they used to announce in the old days, and yes, I do remember that - the yelling, not Lumbye, I'm not THAT old smile

See what you did? Now you got me started, and I can't resist....
Here's another Lumbye:

Thanks Jytte! Now you know what fun it is to share music you are interested in with others. That's why I love this thread. Thanks for introducing me to the music of Lumbye.

I will be working on my recital piece today, but I will be back to share some music of of an American composer I'm starting to explore.

Thanks Jeff! Eric Clapton is one of my favorites. I first heard him when I was a college student and he was with the group called Cream. Here's one of his performances that I enjoy.

Greener, great listen, thank you for sharing smile

This I only heard recently for the first time when a friend linked me. Absolute goosebump material:

For those of you who like Old Blues, griffen's post on Tears in Heaven reminded me of this oldie from BB King. He also did this with Eric on an album later Called Riding with the King. I like it, but this is the first version I ever heard. Title is actually "Worried Life Blues" on the Ridin' with the King album with Clapton, if your interested.

If this cut doesn't work, start it at 2:00, that's where it begins. Hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

Hello. Happy Saturday. smile

Just twiddling my fingers over here awaiting the Schumann show to begin. Well, between some practice bouts that is.

Make it a great weekend.

Here's another gem:

TÃ¥gen letter (The fog is lifting) by Carl Nielsen (1865-1931)

Vimeo seems to be a little slow on the start, so give it a little head start before listening.

Edit: why is it such a problem to embed vimeos ???? grrrrr

In Norwegian it is actually: "TÃ¥ken letter" (My Ex was Norwegian)
E.i.: Meteorolog Elbjørg Moxnes ved Metereologiske Institutt kan melde om økende vind på nyttårsaften, og dermed er det store muligheter for at tåken blåser bort.
Is it "tågen" in Danish?
Also "tågen" in Swedish means: "The trains"

Will do some R&B for a while. Give the classical a break.

Yes, in Danish 'fog' is 'tåge'. And yea, I'm aware that in Sweden 'fog' is driving on tracks LOL (Danish for train is 'tog', but you'd be hard pressed to hear the difference in pronounciation.)

PS: and in Danish the 'g' is more or less silent, much like the french 'h' smile

If you are American, and learned Norwegian, I'm impressed.

grin I'm a mix of Canadian, American, Norwegian, and Swedish.
I learned Norwegian whether I liked it or not, and without even trying...my Ex was quite vocal.

I haven't heard from Rossy for a long time. I suspect he's become way too busy to keep posting. We miss him.

I can personally relate to the time problem. I've had to put a greater amount of time in my piano work because my teacher is giving me increasingly more difficult pieces to work on. I'm off to practice now. Feel free to share some music. That's why Rossy got this started. I may not be able to post. I do take time to listen to the wealth of music posted here smile

Wayne!!!! Good Good Friday to you. How're you keeping? It's great to hear from you. smile

This reflects my chipper mood today. It's not a public holiday here in Ireland from some reason but being from England (where it is) I always take it anyway. smile

Have a good Easter, everyone!
