Didn't think of that. Might be true. BTW I do teach piano to some people.

Kind regards,

No. Actually is the opposite. I record the MIDI to show it on Synthesia. That is why is perfectly in sync.

I actually learn that song many years ago, by ear, hearing from Richard Clayderman version.

Cheers

Just out of interest - what app did you use to record it in midi - was it natively on the ES100, or some app running on a PC / computer?

I plug the midi-usb cable to the pc and use pianoteq to record.

There are many midi recorders, but I've always use pianoteq because i am familiar with it and simply works.

pianoteq is the software piano package, isn't it?

It was just something that interested me - I've found one, but haven't tried it, but see it as a useful means of archiving a piece once I've learnt it - save a decent audio recording, and save a midi of me playing it.

Pianoteq is a virtual piano sound generator, but also have midi recorder.

Any recorder software should be fine. Try the one you find and if work, use that. By no mean pianoteq is the only midi recorder.

I have been playing on a Casio CDP-100 for the past 6 years and the keys some keys are becoming a "loose" and doesn't feel good to play on. A friend is selling his Yamaha Clavinova CLP-320 for probably a bit less than half of what she paid for. I played on his piano for a bit and the keys felt more weighted and sound better than mine and it just felt much better to play.
My concern is that even though he hasn't played it much, but he has owned it for 5 years and I'm worried about it failing soon. So I am also considering something new, based on suggestions (i.e. Yamaha 105/155, Casio PX350/5S). My main considerations for a new piano is the sound and feel of the keys. How does CLP 320 compare to these models?

There is a reason why a used price is much lower, because it accounts for the shorter remaining lifetime. After five years you are through the bathtub curve and the failure risk rises exponentially.

The price he paid originally is completely irrelevant for price calculation in consumer electronics. First you compare the functionality to the current offerings to get a real price for a brand-new CLP-320 in the current market. This price may even be higher than the original one. Then you deduct something like 20 % for each year of use. Once you reach zero, you are in the collector's and enthusiast territory.

For old stuff the value depends on your ability to repair it yourself and the costs and work you have to invest to keep it in order.

Thanks.

What you mean they are not notes?

Notes are the little dots you find on sheet music. Those green lines (that make me crazy) may be guides, for lack of a better word.

Edit: better still, let me put it in a different way:
If you remove the piano, can you read the green lines?? No.

Technically you are right but I need to put something in the tittle to describe the green lines (that are to show what keys I am pressing, so anyone can learn it).

What word to use in tittle, then? Maybe scroll? Maybe keys? If i use "guide" I don't think people will know what I mean.

Piano roll is the correct term I think.

Semantics, schmantics - the people looking for a "synthesia" representation of it, aren't going to bicker over whether the correct term is used, it's probably going to be more reliably found using the term "notes".

Don't let intellectual purity get in the way of what people look and search for - wrong audience. There's a time and a place.

edit: and Daniel: enjoyed that.

I only want to do what is best, so people that are searching for it can find it. Using the correct word or not don't worries me as much.

But I edit the tittle to "The Way We Were (piano roll + pedal)". I think is descriptive enough. Also, I add "notes" on the tags so someone searching for the notes can still find it. Win-win situation, I think.

Thank you guys for your feedback.

Then you put "using Synthesia to display the notes played the pianist" into the description and everything is alright. smile

You're missing the point - only people obsessing about things in forums are likely going to care whether the absolute, correct and pedantic term is being used.

And I think it's fair to say they're probably a different demographic to those likely to be looking for a synthesia representation of it.
