I don't recognize either rag. The second, in particular, has an unusual tonality to it that seems more novelty-like (Orientalism?) or maybe modern composition meant to evoke an old style.

Hey, Bob, good to see you posting again! I asked my spouse, who plays almost exclusively ragtime, and he didn't recognize them.

Thanks for trying. When I thought of asking around for help, you were actually the first to come to mind being a "rag connoisseur." Hey, Bob, good to see you posting again! I asked my spouse, who plays almost exclusively ragtime, and he didn't recognize them. Thanks, good to see you're well - and thanks for asking. Thanks for the effort Rerun, but both pieces I was referring to were in the same video on the town of Lincoln, California. I think you mistook the video of Makoto Ozone in my signature as a second video! That said, I enjoyed both of the videos nevertheless - thanks.

I recommend looking up Perfessor Bill Edwards on the Internet. If it's a classic rag, there's a huge chance he'll know. If not, he has a Facebook page with a gazillion ragtime fans and, if it's a known, classic rag at all, there will probably be someone who knows.

Bob,
Good to see you posting again as well. I hope life is rewarding for you!
Sue Keller made a post in the Joplin recital thread, so her email might be available. I'm on a short leash today or I would look for it myself.

Bob, sorry this took me a while. The first was familiar to me, but I wasn't able to place it for the longest time.. I must have spent hours listening to rags to try and jog my memory. But it hit me today. It's called the "Bargain Basement Rag" by the Ragtime Players. (Good luck finding a recording.. it's not a mainstream rag, and the version in the video was jazzed up a bit.. it's not quite the original.)
Unfortunately, I've no idea what the second is. I couldn't place the notes I did hear, and the rest was really too difficult to hear properly. Wish I could have helped on both!

Me neither, but Amazon had the same album ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00SEE25VQ/ref=dm_ws_sp_ps_dp) and the preview confirmed it was the same piece. Nice pull Derulux. Thanks a bundle! The second piece is also from the same album immediately following the first piece, titled "Camelback Rag." Well I know what I'll be listening to at work all day. Can't thank ya enough
