Hi Forum,

I disassembled the BK-9 arranger keyboard. There are similarities with other Roland stuff. I am posting the main CPU board pictures, front and back side.

The CPU board has following ICs:

Group1:
Roland R8A02021ABG SSC Clock 48.000MHz
M2025-1YM Power switch 500mA
M12L2561616A-6T Synchronus DRAM, 32Mbyte, 166MHz Max, 3,3V
M12L2561616A-6T Synchronus DRAM, 32Mbyte, 166MHz Max, 3,3V
S29GL512S10T FLASH, 64 Mbyte, 16bit bus, 3.0V
C12 BDX Power supply

Group2:
Roland R05011845 WSP
Roland R5100032328
S29GL512S10T FLASH, 64 Mbyte, 16bit bus, 3.0V
M12L16161A-7T Synchronus DRAM, 2Mbyte, 143MHz Max, 3,3V
M12L16161A-7T Synchronus DRAM, 2Mbyte, 143MHz Max, 3,3V

On base board (but belongs to CPU board):
S29GL512S10T FLASH, 64 Mbyte, 16bit bus, 3.0V
S29GL512S10T FLASH, 64 Mbyte, 16bit bus, 3.0V

----------------

The R8A02021ABG is the main processor. It is one of the Renesas SH3/SH4 microcontrollers - the SH7700 series.

The R05011845 seems to be a wave/sound processor connected to the two 64Mbyte FLASH memories, probably keeping sound samples.
----------------

The operating system running on the SH3 is the in Japan popular TOPPERS, FI4 kernel.
See https://www.toppers.jp/fi4-kernel.html
There is also some kind of source code available.
More information can be found by analyzing the Roland 'System Program' software update package: rom.bin and PROGRAM.bin

The PROGRAM.bin is a kind of software loader.

The rom.bin is a combination of following sections:
1.Bootloader section..0x00000000 - 0x00040000
2.Program section.....0x00040000 - 0x0074000C
3.User program........0x0074000C - 0x007FFFFC
4.Disc image FAT16....0x00800000 - 0x03FFFFFF
