My MacBook Pro at home just gets me to the page instantly, with no pop-ups whatsoever. As does my iPod Touch.

Maybe the Macs have some sort of blocking software that Windows doesn't?

Or maybe the other browsers like the mac are hanging on the scripts?

Anyway blocking the server where the problem - scripts or whatever - comes from fixes the problem smile

Maybe someone can figure out how to block it on the other devices

wouter79 --- help! When you say "you need a console" - do you mean the command window (in window the DOS prompt command page?

And actually - I tried your solution above in the command prompt (I have windows 8.1) and it didn't work - it says sudo is an invalid command for me.

Any ideas? pretty please?

If this works you are my hero smile

Maybe you all can try it with Google Chrome?

Since a few days I have big problems with the forum. On the laptop is very slow and it takes minutes to open a forum or message. On the iPad it does not work anymore. (there is no problem with my internet connection because everything else works fine).

When click on "Forums rules & Help " (on the right) I get a post from 2007 about a digital piano in an auditorium......

In response to the message of Johan I installed Puffin on my ipad. That seems to work (use it right now). But I hope that there will be a solution so I can read the forum on my laptop again.

Yes I mean the Terminal application in Programs/Utilities. The ipfw command is pretty new I think, like since Mavericks. And you need admin rights to run it.

My solution only works on a mac... I don't know how this works in Windows. Maybe you can search the web for how to create a firewall on Windows. Or use Adblock as some others here reported.

I use adblock as well which makes internet use much faster. It even blocks the ads on youtube . . . if there were ads such as, "1886 Erard for $100, minimum restoration needed!", then maybe I would want to see them.

I think it does not work with PW, the menus won't work anymore.

Almost no webpage (PW included) gives a decent warning if they need javascript. They just break in very weird ways like logging you out while saying you're logged in, half of the page disappearing etc.

you toggle it back on to post etc. Interestingly you can edit with it off.

Thanks so much wouter!! smile
It's been so bad in last week, and now problem solved!
By the way, I'm still using Mountain Lion and it worked. I plan to install Yosemite during Christmas holidays.
