On other webpages my new compu is super fast. But Pianoworld recently is extremely slow. It takes almost 2 minutes to load any page! Are others here having the same problem?

Surprisingly easy, barely an inconvenience.

I do not know where I should post this or where I can report problems.

Since a few days I have big problems with the forum. On the laptop is very slow and it takes minutes to open a forum or message. On the iPad it does not work anymore. (there is no problem with my internet connection because everything else works fine).

When click on "Forums rules & Help " (on the right) I get a post from 2007 about a digital piano in an auditorium......

I am a user from the Netherlands.

Hmmm. Wouter has also just complained of this, but the responders to his thread are not having any trouble.

I have the same problem. I just started a new thread, because the forum is too slow to use I didn't see your message before.
Wouter is a Dutch name, are you also in the Netherlands ?

One possible reason: overload number of advertisements on the page.

It's OK on the LAN at the office, miserably slow on DSL at home. The problem is dozens of bad scripts that have to be stopped one by one when Windows prompts to do it.

The only way is to toggle java script off to read, on to post. Yes, very annoying!

It always worked fine. But suddenly it stopped. People who have problems can't respond. It takes minuten to load a page. Two days ago it was a second. there must be something wrong. I have to stop, the forum is impossible to use. Because I hope to find a solution I waited...had a coffee... waited.....listened to Horowitz.... waited........ to open this post. (I tried several computers and tablets on different locations, ( and different os, Windows, Mac, Linux, iPad)). Everywhere the same problem.
Advertisements and scripts aren't the problem. It always worked.

I've merged the other thread on this subject so all the comments are here.

I have the same problem. I thought maybe it was affecting folks in Europe but I see that folks in the UK are ok....

I was talking to Admin about this yesterday - I had not seen this thread. They said it was probably a router problem.

I've "reported" this thread to highlight that it isn't just me having the problem.
It could well still be a router problem but as it obviously isn't just one instance, maybe the site's host can look into it?

I hope so!

I found the problem

It is a very slow server that is not really needed but the page is waiting for it endlessly...

The server is

74.85.244.205

You can't connect directly with it with http, it is a strange server

Canvas Dreams, LLC CANVASDREAMS-NET-74-85-244-0-1 (NET-74-85-244-0-1) 74.85.244.0 - 74.85.244.255
Silver Star Telecom, LLC SST-74-85-224-0--19 (NET-74-85-224-0-1) 74.85.224.0 - 74.85.255.255

After a long search I found a way to block it on osx: you need a console and type there

sudo ipfw add deny src-ip 74.85.244.205
sudo ipfw add deny dst-ip 74.85.244.205

After that, the speed is back to normal (or maybe even faster smile )

Again I have no idea what canvas dreams is for. So above is at your own risk

This is interesting. I am in Switzerland, and I am not having any problem with speed. All seems normal here. I am not sure why that would be. I am using a Mac.

This seems not restricted to mac, see Peter's post above, he tried windows and tablets too.

Maybe Silver Star Telecom is blocking certain IP ranges?
