RP401R accompaniments: Can I use an iPad app to get that?

I'm upgrading my old Roland ep85 (portable 88-key board with semi-weighted keys). I've been in to a shop and been shown a Roland RP401R, which I tried out. It's priced at 949 GBP most places I've looked.

I want to do two things with it:
1/ Use it as a controller for "learn to play keyboard" software like Musiah and Playground Sessions (which don't actually use the instrument voices)
2/ Practice making music with my 7 and 9 year old children as they learn violin and clarinet.

What I like about the RP401 is the auto-accompaniment options, so I hope that I'll be able to impress my kids by using some simple fingering to play along with their pieces, when it's taking me too long to learn the real accompaniments properly smile

All would be good, except I've just found the option to get a used HP504 for only a little more than the RP401R. The HP series has all of the tones and percussion sounds built in, but no rhythms or auto-accompaniments.

I think that the HP504 looks like a nicer piece of furniture, by why no rhythms or backing arrangements? Could I add them using an app on an iPad plugged in to the instrument, or some PC software?

I bought the RP401R - cheaper, and has the rhythms and accompaniments built in, though I've barely used those features in the 3 weeks I've had it. Maybe in a few years if I'm still keen I'll see if I prefer a more expensive keyboard action.

And I just read about the Roland BK7M backing module in another thread that I think I could add if want to get even fancier accompaniments. Back to my original question, is there any Windows software or an iPad app that can do accompaniments for what is being played on the digital piano?

Steven
