Hi, im about to get a DP, and im thinking in the p155. I know its a good instrument, but im wondering if I can get a newer model that is "better" for a similar Price of the p155, conidering the p155 came out in 2006.....

Wich other pianos do you recommend that are in the range of the p155?

Thanks

The P255 is considerably more expensive than the P155 was, even new, much less used. So I suspect that the P255 is out of the OP's price range.

To the OP, if i'm wrong and you are willing to increase your budget quite a bit, the P255 would be an excellent choice.

Some other choices that might be more in your price range

The Yamaha P105, The Casio Privia PX-150 (or it's more feature rich big brother, the PX-350) and the kawai ES100 all have their fans and would be worth considering.

Also consider the Roland FP-80 that is in a similar price range than the P255.

Yes I realize that there is a $300 (est.) price differential between the two instruments (internet price). Without knowing the OP's financial resources, this may or may not be too much of a stretch. smile

Between P105 and P155, I'd pick the P155 in an instant. The P155's "GH" action is closer to an acoustic piano than the P105's "GHS" action.

The P155 amps are 12 watts/channel, the P105's 7 watts/channel. However, the P105 has woofer+tweeter per channel, the P155 has one driver (12 x 6 cm) per channel. So I don't know which would sound better.

. . . For either one, outboard loudspeakers will improve the sound.

The P155 is a rather old design (as DP's go), but it's nice to play.

I ultimately bought a Casio PX-350; the P155 was a "strong second choice". I may have been swayed by the huge feature-set of the PX-350.

. Charles

PS -- IMHO, the FP-80 is substantially better than the P155, but it's about twice as expensive, in North America.

Hi, yes, im aware the p255 is newer, but i've seen in this fórum and YouTube that is not a big improvement over the p155. The biggest improvement was the Price..... smile

The following article does a good job of comparing the P255 to the P155.

I have a P-155 and have tried the P-255. I don't know if it's better or worse (lack of proficiency), but I can say it's uglier.

There is a gimmick-y looking ipad connector, which seems to be instead of putting a LCD in a £1000 machine.

..on the other hand.

"There are a total of 24 instrument sounds including the acoustic pianos as opposed to 17 on the P155."

Cool, but I wont be upgrading. Might get the P-355 when that comes out.

I'd say get the cheaper model. Had mine 5 years.
