Dear piano gurus,

Has anyone an idea where to get cabriolet legs and lyre for a 1875 Steinway concert grand as shown in this link:

http://www.pianomart.com/buy-a-piano/ad.php?ad_id=24074

Likewise I am looking for fire hydrant legs for an 1880ies Steinway C as shown here:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/from-privat..._DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4d1ff525e7

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have so far tried unsuccessfully to get them from these people

Try looking for a woodcarver and turner to make them for you.

that's my thoughts exactly, if you have a sample leg or if you only need a
single leg, let them make all the legs, so that they match not only species
of wood but turnings detail and sharpness of the carvings, an older leg
the detail is somewhat worn away, and won't easily match the new leg..

http://piano-gruppe.com/en/piano-parts/9-piano-legs.html

Piano Gruppe in Poland are really good at making parts for old pianos, have many in stock, and are used by many rebuilders. Their legs, lyres and music desks are of excellent quality and available at a really good price.

Have a browse of that site.

There is a set of the legs you are looking for on Ebay right now. Search "Steinway Legs" and you will find them.
I see legs like this not often, but every now and then on Ebay. I think a lot of these case style pianos from Steinway and other brands had modern legs added over the years and maybe people didn't have the heart to just pitch the legs in the trash, and now with Ebay they can get something for then.
Also ( won't really work for your piano) there are a number of people selling old Square grand legs.......???? Did they trash the pianos and think "hey someone may pay me money for these legs"????
