Count me in. smile
My younger sister just moved to Switzerland, so I guess I'll take the first July week off, visit her, and hop in for the European Piano Party.

I think that this might actually be doable for me! I hope it doesn't end like Lisbon, where I didn't manage to come in...

I have family in Geneva (ok, not so close to Lucerne, but still), and family right outside of Switzerland close to Zurich (about an hour drive from there).

I really think it can work...

SwissMs - I somehow missed that you were thinking of having the party on a mountain - I thought you were suggesting an excursion.

I think a mountain top piano party would be ......simply awesome. (And I don't use that word lightly!)

I have marked the day in my calendar as well. Lucerne is only about 20 mins from my parent's place, so maybe I could combine it with a visit.

For the Lisbon meeting I could not make it because I became father just around that time. My son was born on July 6th, so the EPP might collide with his first birthday party. We'll see if I can free up some time.

I am glad you will be joining us MrPozor!

Last week we had a meeting up at the top of Mount Pilatus. The room has a incredible view over the alps. We still have some things to work out, but it is looking like it might work out! We are now negotiating to get a piano up there. Keep your fingers crossed.

I'm sorry I'm not able to say anything at the moment.
As usual, for me it's a matter of matching the plans of the whole family (me + Mr. Torquenale + Torquenale Kids).

I fully understand, torquenale! It is very difficult to make plans this far in advance. I do hope you and your family will be able to join us, though. It was fun meeting you all in Lisbon!

I am trying to set up a venue that will be allow us to be very flexible on the number of participants and the cut off date for confirmation. Hopefully the cut off for confirmation will be about 10 days before the event.

Hello my friends,
I still don't know if we'll be able to join the party... I wish I could travel with my family but I don't know yet if we can do a trip for 4 to Switzerland. The "second plan" is to travel alone, but even this plan is full of "question marks"...

SwissMS, you're doing a great job! I know it's hard to organize an EPP.
Anyway, if you need some help or support, please ask me.

Nice to now that the list of participants is increasing smile

I live close to Konstanz, I would be really glad to participate! Great idea and great location!
I do not write too often on the forum but as pianist and piano passionate I am reading it every day.

I will follow this thread, excited to understand what is going to be planned for the event.
Thank you for the initiative.

I am happy that you will be joining us, titowsky! The last two annual parties have been a lot of fun, and the more players the better!

I expect to have confirmation of the site soon. The negotiations have gone more slowly than I thought, but we are finalising details, and I should have an announcement next week. If the last approvals come through, we will have a mountain top adventure!

Hi Nikolas. You do get around! The party will take place on Saturday, July 4th, 2015. It will be centred around Luzern. This week we should sign the final agreement for the venue and can finalise the details.

I am looking forward to meeting you!

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT:

We made the deal with Mount Pilatus Hotel, and the 2015 European Piano party with be there! So the plan is for a piano mountain adventure! It has taken a while to get all the parties in agreement, so I will give you a little background. Gary and I took the cog train up to the top of Pilatus about a month ago to propose the idea. They were very excited about it, but did not have a piano, and did not know if one could be brought up on the cog train. The next step was to talk to my favourite piano store, where I purchased my Bechstein and my Avant Grand, about providing a piano. They were very excited about a mountain top European Piano Party, and said they were game. Next we had to convince the Cog train people, and measure the compartment to make sure the piano would fit. Long story short. Everyone agreed. We will have an 180CM Kawaii Grand at the top of Pilatus!

This will be more than just a piano party. It will be an excursion and a day of adventure. There will be a cog train ride up, and a cable car ride down. On the way back down, if you are adventurous, there is a really fun toboggan run. At the top there are lots of activities for the non-pianists, with lots of hiking and exploring.

Here is a link to a Picasa album that I put together to introduce everyone to Pilatus.

We will have the room for the entire day, so we a have a couple of options on lunch. We can either break for lunch and go to the restaurant, either in or outside depending on the weather, or have it catered in the room. I think everyone will want to get out and explore though, so the restaurant idea may be best.

I will fill in more details as we go along, but I wanted to announce the venue is set!
