Also, top 5 bi-cords on bass bridge are iron wound.
All iron wound on tenor bridge.
I believe this piano has the original strings less two that had been replaced.

No, it would be public domain starting in 1895. Patents then and now last for 17 years. Patent holders then and now try to come up with patentable modifications during that 17 year life in order to start the clock again on a new batch of intellectual property.

Well here is to add to the mystery.
The top plate mounting screw is fake on the A.B. Chase. This bolt would attach to a resonating bell if it was a Steinway. Unless it's for a reason that I'm not seeing. Why would they cast that into the plate if it wasn't doing anything? Wierd.

The plate was probably a standard design, with that hole in it. They bought the plate, and maybe a case to fit, and had their name slapped on it.

It looks like a couple of strings did not fit on the edges of the duplex scale aliquot.
