On 21 October last year I had my first lesson. Before that you could have offered me a million dollars to show you a G on the keyboard and I would have had a 1 in 8 chance of being right! I couldn't read music or anything of the sort.

So now I can read some music. I can play a spirited, rather than good, rendering of "Auld Lang Syne". I have a Kawai upright here and a brace of Bechsteins at home in Europe. I love them like a family.

I know I am learning slowly but I have enjoyed every frustrating minute of it all.

Thanks to all on the forum here. My resolution is to try harder!

Happy pianniversary laugh That's quite good, Auld Lang Syne is not that easy.

My pianniversary is equal to my anniversary since my piano got delivered on my birhday.

Surprisingly easy, barely an inconvenience.

Happy Pianniversary! Keep plowing forward! The frustrations don't necessarily lessen as you move forward, but on the flip side, you will continue to have those "I GOT IT!!!!" moments and most of all you are enjoying making music!

I wanted to learn a Hebrew tune. Hava Nagila is, clearly, well beyond me but I saw the words to Auld Lang Syne were written by Rabbi Berne so I learnt that instead.

My spell checker doesn't like this message.

Auld Lang Syne words were written by Robert Burns, although he is also known as Rabbie Burns.

I'm late to the party ... but many happy returns. It's always nice to find another beginner pianist/vintage Bechstein fan.

Also, I want some of that cake. smile
