Welcome to the forum, good thick socks and hot water bottles are good for fixing cold feet  On a more serious note, if you can afford them and you have the right sort of commitment, having a teacher escort you through the journey is really a no brainer.

considering it was 6 years between posts, 15 years for a tuning doesnt sound that bad XD lol. im just joking, but i do find it very funny how long it took to upload the pic. Better late than never is right!  Lol...good catch! So Schubertserenade, how are you coming along in starting lessons?

Well, I have decided to ask the fellow who is coming to tune the piano for a recommendation for a piano teacher for both my daughter and myself. He services pianos frequently in my area, surely he can recommend someone. Right now, I'm working on making my left hand communicate with my right lol. I'm learning a relatively simple piece that some of you might recognize from Johnny Cash, although I am learning the original version. My troubles are starting on page three with the beginning of the chorus vocals. http://www.theninhotline.net/knowthescore/hurt.pdfIt's not classical music by any means lol, but it's a song that I'm very familiar with. I've been transcribing a lot of sheet music in a manner in which I can read it, and it is helping me to recognize the notes on the staff. It is certainly more entertaining than the piano primer that I purchased for my daughter.

This looks like an excellent forum! I've been browsing here since yesterday, and people seem really helpful! I'm not up to par with 99.9 percent of the people here I'm sure, cause I only know how to play one song by rote, which is Schubert's Serenade, hence my login name. It comes from the John Thompson's 3rd grade book.
I badly want to take piano lessons, just have cold feet I guess. My mother plays the piano, and I now have her 1965 Baldwin Acrosonic console. It has sentimental value; my grandfather, who purchased it for my mother, passed away when I was quite young, and I loved him dearly. I also have fond memories of my mother playing when I was younger, but she has given it up.
Now I'm going to find out how to post a pic of my piano! Welcome at Pianoworld forums. It is very nice to look around here. To avoid getting things wrong, I recommend you to take some lessons. When you have learned mistakes, it is difficult to correct your music.....but for all: have fun making music. Best regards and good luck, Johan B
