At your rate you'll be >1000 miles in a couple of days! How cool. well, except that late opening post office frown Any way, I expect to hear the celebratory fireworks clear to here in Santa Fe smile Or are you saving those till the end?

Do you think it will be hard to come back to "civilasation" when you're done? Even just the 3 months of car camping I did in '89 made it hard to live in a building again.

I've just caught up on the last couple of weeks - and even though I had read this thread first and knew you were alright, I was worried about your ankle - and then that nasty cut! ouch!!!

Wishing you well for the second half of your journey!

I made it to Duncannon PA - about 1042 miles. Next goal is to meet Laurie in Harpers Ferry, the traditional halfway point. Can't wait!

Woot! > 1000 miles! Actually, with this, the 1092, and Harper's Ferry all coming up in quick time, it seems like a great week to celebrate.

And I was glad to hear about Wrinkles. I was kinda worried laugh

Thanks for keeping us posted, Sam.

Hey Sam - we haven't had an update since 9/29 - where are you & how are you doing? Did you find the Doyle Hotel so congenial that you decided to hunker down there for awhile? laugh

Did you make it to Pine Grove Furnace State Park?

Still going well! Congratulations for making it already halfway. Time is going quick here... How about there?

Way to go, Forrest!! thumb

Congrats on making it to Harper's Ferry, some much-needed rest, and a few days with Laurie. And you even took time for a little piano practice...outstanding! thumb

OT = off topic. This thread has extremely little piano-related content.

Good news - I'm in Virginia. Bad news- there's 500 miles of trail in Virginia, so I will be here for awhile. Good news - its beautiful here!

Finished Shenandoah National Park and updated journal, but photo upload is not working...

Hi Sam, nice to hear from you here. I was about to write to you (well comment here that is) right around the time Bob the dog ate the little girls frog. You were approaching half way then, so thought I'd wait for the big milestone. I have not stayed current day by day, but do get caught up every couple of weeks.

The journal and pictures are amazing thumb . Virginia will be a nice one for you to conquer thumb . You are doing amazing. thumb . Keep going.

Sam, what a fantastic adventure. I don't know how you handle the time away from the piano. On my bucket list is a ride across the USA on my recumbent trike, but for now I'll live vicariously through you.

It was great to read your updated entries today, Sam. After 10 days I'd begun worrying you had a problem of some kind....other than the ones you face every day. Hoping your foot feels better soon. thumb

+1 I was beginning to wonder, too. But updates were great. I even began to wonder if I'm going to miss it when you're done laugh I so admire it when you get up and go in the rain, and I think it's cool that the equipment manufacturer is helping you get your tarp fixed. Nothing puts a damper on things - smile - like a leaky tarp.

Take care and have a great trip thru all those new kinds of trees.
