Does anybody know anything about Steinway's Benjamin line of upright pianos? As far as I can find they are only sold in Austria. As Essex they are made in China but are they made in the same factory to the same standards?

I am interested in buying a used 8 year old Benjamin BE-117, price is set at around 2500 USD.

Anyone has experience with them?

Here is the link to the official site:

First question:

Is "Steinway in Austria" a retail operation?

Yes: "Steinway in Austria" is a retail operation. The Benjamin is the store's stencil brand of piano. I don't know anything about the pianos, sorry.

Ich danke Ihnen Herr A443.

In that case it is most likely a Pearl River piano or a Young Chang Chinese built piano. These are the most likely companies to offer these type of stencil pianos today. There is no way I can know from the picture though.

To the OP, why not call the store and ask them?

I wonder if it is a twin of the Lang Lang.

It's much easier to bash a Steinway than it is to play one.

I have checked with Steinway Austria.
Benjamin is their own stencil line and is made by Pearl River.
After they receive the piano from China, they invest some 4-8 hours of work into it - don't really know what work that could be beside tuning and checking that everything is as expected.
