The Summer Composition Competition 2014 is now open!
This is the Summer Composition Competition 2014 Voters thread.
In this thread the composers will post their submissions.

The companying thread for rules and discussion is found here:
http://www.pianoworld.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/2293464/Summer_Composition_Competition.html

Here is how you can vote:

1) During July composers will post their work here, or by PM me if wishing to be anonymous.
2) The first two weeks in august, you as a voter can vote.

3) Voting is done by posting here your casted votes.

4) You can cast three votes:
A) "best submission", of all submitted contributions.
B) "best solo piano submission", of all submitted contributions which qualify.
C) "best bagatelle", of those submitted contributions that are below 2 minutes.

It is possible to cast all three votes on the same contribution, should that qualify for all three classes.

Composer rules:

Please mark your submission post beginning with "YOUTUBE" If you agree on a youtube compilation.

* Composing/performing for other instruments than solo piano is allowed.
* A composer can submit as many contributions as they want. All submissions will be included.
* Contribution submitter can be anonymous until voting is over (post submissions by a pm to me)
* Contribution must be submitted during july 2014.
* contributions can be submitted in these formats:
+ Music-XML (will be played back by musescore-1.3)
+ Performance in MP3/WAV/MIDI AND score in PDF

* Should you like to withdraw or submit an unfinished work, please mark your post with "WALK-OVER".

Happy composing!

I would like to change the deadline for contribution and voting:

New deadline for submitting a contribution is august 8 ( ie you can submit any time now up to and including that friday ).
Start of voting period is 11 august ( a monday ).

Next week and the week after that (week 30 and 31, 21 july to 3 aug) I will go offline internet shocked

So I will therefor not be able to respond to any messages or be active in any way, until I'm back.

Therefor I need some extra time to prepare the contributions before the voting begins.

Meanwhile have the greatest time, and make this forum bubble with activity!

Contribution number four enters the competition. Link to youtube is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rkltDfYSrN0

Are there anyone else who has pending contributions? The contribution submit period is over, but lets give it today also to allow submissions just in case.

Well, you haven't gotten a very good turnout, have you? Four submissions, all of them qualifying for B and only one qualifying for C, thus rendering the B and C votes superfluous.

Now don't be like that wink .. I remember you were the sole participant in the previous competition "christmas carol", so in light of that we've grown 300% ! laugh

I think you are correct that the only meaningful voting category is A ("best submission").

Here is my contribution.
It's called "Big Blue".
It's about a 4 note motive which is rhythmically displaced in different ways (see the attached pdf File)

Are these submissions only for fellow-composers to vote on? I enjoyed listening to them all - such a nice variety - but there's one in particular that really appealed to me. If this is open to anyone, no matter their music level, then I'd be happy to come back to cast a vote.

A vote for #6 - Toccata Boogie for best submission.

Since #6 appears to be for solo piano and lasts well under 2 minutes, I suppose that vote would also take care of the "solo piano" and "bagatelle" categories then. smile

I vote "best submission" and "solo piano" for #3 - Nocturne by Steve Chandler.
