Hi, Everyone,

Hope you're all having a wonderful week. Our latest interview is with Juilliard dean, Ara Guzelimian, who's currently in the Bay Area to give a talk on the life and times of pianist Alice Herz-Sommer. I had the chance to speak with the former senior director of Carnegie Hall, and asked his thoughts on this generation's approach to music-making, Herz-Sommer, his time working with Isaac Stern, and the voices (composers) of today.

As always, thank you all for reading smile

Another interesting interview. Thanks.

There is a question about the spiritual side of music, a question about tuition costs, with a follow up about whether too many students are being admitted, and a list of composers to watch. The last I will list:

I have been hugely encouraged by the work of composers like Christopher Cerrone, Sean Shepherd, Caroline Shaw, Timo Andres and Andrew Norman, all of whom are barely in their 30s and all of them very much worth discovering.

Anyone familiar with those names? I am not.
