my condolences Morodiene, losing a parent is very difficult. I hope in time you will find comfort in music again.

Surprisingly easy, barely an inconvenience.

Thank you everyone for the thoughts and prayers. I've been so worried about my mom going through this that I haven't really been allowing myself to grieve over losing my father. Now that I'm back home that process is beginning, but it will take a while before I can sing again. I can play piano, although it's just going through the motions. At least when I'm playing I'm not hearing him sing. Both my sister and I are singers and neither of us can make it through a song right now.

I have an arrangement of How Great Thou Art by Mark Hayes for solo piano that is absolutely gorgeous. Dad loved that hymn, and when I can I plan to record that for him.

It's been a busy couple of work weeks. More travel today -- Kansas City, where it's beastly hot. But everything's up to date here!

Back on the wagon Thursday -- maybe even tomorrow night.

Morodienne, so very sorry to read about your loss. Thinking of your and your family at this difficult time.

Thanks, barbaram and AimeeO. smile

I will be out of town this weekend, but I should only have to miss piano on Saturday 7/26 unless my brother in law happens to have one (highly doubtful). I'll play before we leave tomorrow and hopefully arrive on Sunday evening with a moment to play.

Got in really late last night (Sunday) after driving back from North Dakota, so I was beat and didn't remember to practice. I'll be back on the wagon today!

Had a good saturday of practicing. Spent the entire waking hours almost besides doing whatever chores and making dinner. A good 10 hours. Was very very fatigued but it was worthwhile.

oh no, no, not at all.
I updated your status right away, I just didn't reply as your adventure coincided with Morodiene's sad news and it seemed too strange to reply to both in one post. I meant to reply afer and...forgot.

I've been super busy for the last month with the trip to Lisbon, and then my family visiting - so I've been a bit distracted.

Sorry that I left you feeling ignored!!!!!!!!

Thanks Cheryl, that's the main thing I wanted to make sure of. I understand how frazzled you were. No harm, no foul. grin

I've only started having weekly piano lessons 3 or 4 months ago but since I now actually have a piano (as from 2 weeks ago) I have been playing everyday, so can you please ad me to the list too? :-)

Can't remember when I last posted here - just wanted to check in & say that, apart from the 2 weeks after I fell in the spring (March 27-April 10), I've played every day. I had a really busy May-June, lots of tutoring. Summer hasn't really slowed down. Although I haven't been tutoring much, I have 2 balconies to keep watered, & I've been trying to catch up on things around the house - finished a couple of sewing projects that've been hanging around, made some jam, etc. Also, I've been having weekly piano lessons instead of bi-weekly, except for this week, because my teacher's away.

I got away to visit my cousin & his daughter for a few days. My cousin has a new puppy, a golden retriever, who's a real sweetie. I had to go meet him, though I just realized I didn't get any pictures. I played my cousin's piano every day while I was there, & a couple of times I even played the neglected-to-the-point-of-abuse wonderful old piano in his daughter's cabin where I stayed.

The weather here's been phenomenal this summer - Vancouver's going to lose it's reputation for having a 12-month rainy season. Hope everyone's having a good summer.

Just checking in - I had two work trips in July if I can retrospectively be excused for?
July 7-11 and July 22-28.
But otherwise still on the wagon!

Can I be excused from 9 - 16 August please? I'm going on a cruise/vacation. Wonder if they'll let me play their grands?

Patrick.

Geds and Patrick - you're updated.
Patrick - good luck with the grands on your holiday - I know that some of our members have managed to play on cruise ships!
