I recently completed one of the pieces I had found in my folder of incomplete piano works. I present Prelude in A Major.

Also, I did not seem to add a general tempo marking. I personally like it to be taken Moderato.

No offense, but do you realize that the score is atrocious?

Yes

I think its mostly just an issue of the stems pointing in directions that makes it difficult to read. I'll fix that sometime soon.

What do you mean you'll fix it sometime soon? You should not be posting any score this bad. Fix it first, then post.

It's not just the stems. There are many things wrong.

Yes that is probably correct - I think I'll correct all of the errors sometime soon.

Good to hear - I think I'll put this one in my "completed" folder.

Well, Ritzycat,

On your semi-question that "You don't know what else to do", here's my suggestions:

Try to find some honest feedback that actually does exactly that: Offers some feedback! Single phrase posts are hardly useful as they stand (unless you and Polyphonist are exchanging PMs in which case I couldn't know).

Then try to compare your score with other commercial scores.

One thing that's strikingly different is that the piano staves are connected with a " { " and have a single barline across both staves, which is not the case with your prelude.

Then there's the tempo that's missing from the beginning.

And then there's the last two systems which are three bars and one bar each, which is a pity. I'd say that all 4 bars (and bar 51) could fit in a single system, thus making more room for the 3rd system and a valid 4th system to end your piece.

More over, there's a few things (just a few) that are clashing with each other (like the rests in bars 12-15) or the title in the same page, etc, that need some attention.

But all of this is hardly something I'd call "awful", or "atrocious", or anything close. In fact I'd say that it's a very decent attempt at making a score, that contains all the necessary information about what you expect from someone when they play your music.

Well done and thanks for sharing!

no idea, but you remain solid that the score is "Still awful, but much better."

I'm scared to even take a look at the original link if this is the case! yikes! grin

Oh... this is so much better! Well done!

A couple of more observations, more in a sense of making it "perfect", but as it stands I feel that it's ok:

1. In bars 13-16 you now have the rests hidden so from a theoretical point of view it doesn't make sense. Isn't there a way to make the rests stand just a little higher?

2. What's the wavy line in bar 17 and 30? Is it a gliss? If so do add a remark in Italics gliss.. Also in bar 30 how is it supposed to work? It's too small to NOT have it notated properly, plus there's other things going on above, so...?

Again well done! ^_^
