Happy 4th to everyone!

Geesh....they way people are here. You'd think it's some kind of major holiday!? smile Everybody is taking the day off!? Even the landfill is closed.
I worked this morning. Got home by 10am. Couldn't believe all the people with boats heading to the lakes. The lakes are gonna be a disaster!

Oh...and parades....geesh! In Custer, they seem to have a parade for everything. When I lived there. Wondered why some even bothered? Got booze?
This is the holiday where all the pyromaniacs teach the kids how to be stupid. smile

Gee FarmGirl.... Sounds like your teacher needs to be more blunt. smile smile smile

And it's not easy to speed up on the spot, especially with stage pressure. I had to learn it hard way when I was young. It's easier to slow down. You will be on the stage with redder face than red ass monkeys".

Get rid of that teacher. Now.

That sounded exactly like my organic chemistry professor. When you're 19-years-old, you just take it. Now I have lived long enough to realize there is a more appropriate way to motivate than just be blunt all the time. In retrospect, he was also a good guy and I hold nothing against him, but all of us sure hated him when we were in school.

I just deleted my post. I feel ashamed. She's been spending her 4th with me in the college trying to help me up the speed. She doesn't talk like that to other students. We are friends of 20 years. She is trying to help me. I should not have got mad at her.

Farm Girl we're all friends here, sometimes you have to "let go". My ballet teachers were Russian and they said things at times that made us feel like turning in our two feet. In retrospect all they wanted was for us to learn and to do our best.

I know it's different, but for some reason when I read your post it brought back memories, anyway, I have a feeling that you have a great teacher, so stay the course.

Happy 4th of July.

musdan, thanks. Yeah, she is a great friend and teacher. She observed my practice today and simplified a couple of spots that were keeping from playing faster. I only have less than two weeks until the workshop, so the time is running out. You are right, I need to learn to "let go".

After practice we had dinner, movie and watched the fireworks.

Happy 4th of July to everyone here!

FarmGirl... Even though everything you say is true about your friend and teacher. Have you considered one thing? It may be that she believes in you. That she thinks you can do something with piano playing. ????

I, personally, rather enjoyed, and got a chuckle out of hearing about her ranting at you. She ain't gonna let you be a slouch. smile

EDIT: BTW.... a big big congratulations on your freedom! Now hopefully you can afford to do something that leaves more free time for you.
That's basically what I do. I used to have a six figure income in So. Cal. I had no life. I was killiing myself with diabetes that I didn't know I had.

Maple, thanks. Ha ha I think she believes in all her students. Sometimes I think it's not a good idea to have my best friend as my piano teacher but she is an excellent teacher. I am sure the same thoughts crosses her mind too when I talk back to her (doubting her ability to teach since I am not getting it quickly..). We always make up in the end since we are good friends.

About freedom.. It feels nice. I get used to it. I walked my dogs this morning and just dipped in the swimming pool with them. I have never so relaxed in my life. My health is getting better (I was on the verge of getting the same kidney disease my mom has). I will decide my next job wisely and won't work more than 5 years for sure. I would like to do something more wholesome than designing financial loss reserve model or remediation of financial loss. Something more local, tangible and good for community.

I hear they're always looking for trash truck drivers in Scottsdale.

(I just had to say that. smile If you don't remember. That's what I do now.)
Besides... doing something more wholesome, local, tangible, and good for the community. You'd be joining the ranks of people like Elvis, Mikey, and myself. smile

EDIT: BTW: Do you remember last year. There was a wreck with a gas truck and a car. Somewhere not far from you. The gas truck cut the car in half. But saved the lives of the people in the car. The car pulled right out in front of the truck from a two way stop. That truck driver is my best friend from high school.

Wow Ron, it's quite a story. You have an incredible friend.

I don't think i am a good driver though. For one thing, I am an Asian female hahaha. It's a joke but it's kind of true for me. I have never gotten a ticket but I hit my husband car (my drive way is curved and require certain technique to get out without hitting anything) and trash cans a couple of times.

I would like to work for a company that actually makes something that I can understand and would like to work with nice & friendly people.

I just thought you would get a good laugh out of that.

I do know there isn't much manufacturing in Ariz. Truckers hate to deliver there. It's because they have a hard time finding anything to deliver from there. Have to leave empty and go somewhere else.
You seriously might look into service companies. I hear they are big for the elderly in Ariz. Much demand.

I agree. She sounds like a great teacher and friend. Just don't forget to harass her back! :-)
