GH and GHE are two names for the same thing. GHS is a "step down" from those, at least in price. Whether it is a step down in quality is subjective as usual, as there are some people who prefer the GHS to the GH/GHE, i.e. finding the latter too heavy feeling. edit: here's a link from Yamaha http://faq.yamaha.com/us/en/article...rds/digitalpianos/p_series/p-80/330/6575

My mistake - I just looked it up. I had Graded Soft Touch. Apparently no hammers were involved.

Anyone knows whether the CP4 sounds are better than CLP5xx or Motif XF?

Before I sold my CP5 the first time two years back, I had an S90ES for about a week. I A/B ed all the *extra* sounds ranging from strings, horn/brass, pads, clav, wurli & rhodes and basses. With the exception of a few synth sounds, guitar sounds and exotic pads (that I never would use anyway) - the CP5 was equal or a tad clearer then all that was in the 90ES. After coming to that conclusion after repeated listening in the week - I sold the 90ES.
I realize the XF is two generations newer then the ES, but then quite a few of the extra sounds on the CP4 range from being a tad clearer, to noticeably fatter sounding then the CP5.
I think you'll get a wider variety of individual sounds on the Motif XF, but I'd bet the CP4 would be right there with the majority of core sounds.

if you don't want to mess with wires and extraneous stuff, you might want to look at the Roland FP-80. i've played it several times and have become quite enamored with it. it has a nice although somewhat light action and is very playable and its on-board speakers sound really very good with its supernatural pianos. so you wouldn't necessarily need to hook up additional speakers if you didn't want to. its a tad pricey (like most roland boards) but is worth looking at in the $2000 range. the cp4 probably works better as a stage piano in a group/combo setting as it probably cuts through other instruments better. I dont care much for its action. if you are looking mainly for a solo piano sound the FP-80 has value.
Steinway M; Roland V-Piano; Yamaha P250; Ivory II Grands, Italian, American D; Galaxy Vintage D; True Keys American; UVI Yamaha C7; Ravenscroft 275; Garritan CFX

I`d be inconsolable if I did that . . !

How many Pianoworld forummers using CP4 currently? I have one. I like it a lot. I mostly use it with headphones and it stays at home. The CP4 and the other high end stage pianos people mentioned here, are all similar, but not equivalent in all of their features and overall feel, so it's best if you try to find a place where you can try some of them out.

I bought a CP4 in December for gigging. I like the action, acoustic and electric piano sounds, size and weight. My home piano is a Kawai CA93, which has an action I prefer and whose significant weight doesn't matter.
Yamaha YC88, Kawai CA93, Yamaha MODX8, EV ZXA1
