So I bought Synthogy ivory but the sound card could not take it so im using a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 I plugged it in and installed the drivers and selected it as my driver in synthogy but it wont work. I am fairly new to this so can someone explain in detail how to get this to work?

Make sure that you select an individual piano from the Ivory library. Not until you select an individual piano will any noise come out. Other than that:

1) make sure that you are getting a MIDI signal when you play a key
2) make sure that the correct sound card is selected in the device menu

If you still can't get sound, go to Synthogy FAQ, contact Synthogy. They have nice customer service.

Good luck!

I can tell you that the problem is not with the audio interface because I use that exact same product and it works fine.

Mawliet: Can you describe the connection from the piano to the computer? And from the computer to the Scarlett? And from the Scarlett to the audio system?

there are others on this blog much more knowledgeable about this than me, but let me ask you this. Do you have midi-in and midi-out connections on your Scarlet box? I run ivory pianos- and my set up is i have my midi out from my DP going into my midi in on my interface (an M Audio 410 Firewire), and the midi in on the piano going into the midi out on the 410. I then have the 410 connected to my desktop computer via Firewire- for you it would be a usb connection. you must go into the set up of ivory and then tell it what to look for as to the location of midi out and midi in. and also where to route the sound. i'm out of town so i can't see the program to tell you beyond that.

someone else- feel free to chime in if i'm off base here

That sounds like it could be the cause of the issue.

Have you contacted the Focusrite/Synthogy technical support?
They're perhaps the best folks to assist you.

Cheers,
James
