I will be using the new format again: thus, here is the recording: http://picosong.com/PJMc/

Now for the information, with a few extra categories added to the list:

Date of composition: June 26, 2014
Location: Home
Time spent: 30 minutes
Number of pages: 2
Duration: 50 seconds
Motive: Saw a recent post containing two-part compositions and thought I would write one.
Technical information: The piece begins with a canon at the octave, and soon modulates into the subdominant, remaining there for a substantial section of the piece, until a return to the tonic is effected. Soon afterward, a quasi-recapitulation begins, but offset by one bar from the original statement. The piece ends with a final statement of the tail of the opening motif in the bass, and a final bar which expands into four parts and makes use of material from the head of said motif.

Score:

Enjoy. smile

I know that it's dumb to say, plus I can't comment on the work right now, for various reasons, but this new thread feels to me much better. You're offering a recording, you're offering even a few words about how you came about thinking about this work, etc...

Thanks for this! smile

And, I'm spending that much more time on posting the thread. In addition to the usual business of taking a screenshot of the piece, posting the screenshot online, copying the link, and putting it in the PW post, I now have to set up the recording, export it through Sibelius into ITunes, change it into MP3 format, post the MP3 online, copy the link, and put it in the post. And, I have to spend yet more time writing the post itself. It's a lot of extra work, and I'm not enjoying it.

Polyphonist

Poly, you are touching a subject I've been thinking about. Because pianoworld doesn't provide any supporting tools ( which are understandable because it is just a forum on the web ).

This leaves contributors with no information about how we want them to publish their materials here ( providing there is some sort of canonical format we would prefer ).
Those who "pump-and-dump" their audio files only, maybe they just don't realise their work aren't accessible for analysis and feedback, because the forum doesn't state it anywhere.

Nikolas and poly, and others, what are your thoughts on providing a youtube link like I did ? The video just displays the score, and you can hear the music playing.
The reason I'm asking, which also could help Poly, is that I find it very easy:
1) export from musescore into wav
2) take a screenshot of the score at musescore
3) combine the two into kdenlive, render a MPG file
4) upload to youtube

Sorry for being off-topic, the score looks reachable by someone at my level, so I'll make it up by some feedback later.

Look.

I said thank you for listening to my suggestions (however strongly voiced).

I'm not an admin here, or a mod here. Just a regular member who voiced some concerns. I was glad to see that you took notice, but if you can't stand it, it's not the end of the world you know.

Really this is simply getting too much out of nothing! frown

Larry,

I usually do that with youtube, but take much greater care with what I post (since I post commercial stuff and thus I want them to look nice... grin ). It can't be the case with anyone.

I don't know if you missed the discussion with Polyphonist in another thread (one of the chorales one), but the main point from my part was that if we had more we would understand more and be able to enjoy more and comment more on the works. Polyphonist (obviously) finds this excessive, which is why I said the above.

It's very difficult to put down any kind of instructions for a forum. Just some suggestions perhaps, but again, this could turn away members who have a different idea about what they want to do and how to do it.

it means that if you don't understand the above paragraph then you won't understand that you're spending too much time on this whole issue.

If you want take my suggestion, if not don't ...

It couldn't be any simpler.

Why don't you comment on the piece? I'm certainly not going to continue doing this if it doesn't elicit more replies.
