Hey PW,

(Sorry for all of my questions recently.)

I found a local listing of a Charles Walter 1520 (Queen Anne) online for $2800. It is from 1984 (or '86?) according to the seller. I went to go play the piano the other day and found it to be in "like-new" condition. According to the seller, it hasn't been used in about 15 years, but has been serviced on a yearly basis (with the last service done 3 years ago). No keys appear to be sticking, and all the piano technicians I've spoken to so far in the area where it is located recommend that a piano technician is not really necessary. (They haven't run into a "bad" Charles Walter.) This advice also came from one of the previous tuners of this piano. Also, if it helps, I live in the Chicago area.

My questions are: Is this piano worth the price in its current state, and should a piano technician be called anyway?

Thanks.

I've never seen a "bad" Walter as well. See if they'll take $2,000 for it, and GRAB it (not literally) if they say "yes."

Unfortunately, this is the rock bottom price. Initially, the seller was going to sell it for $3500 or so (but I managed to bring him down).
