Hi I was given a piano from my grandmother, I have searched the name and no luck getting any information on this at all.
The name on the piano is FERD.BLUTNER. This is the correct spelling on the the piano which is in gold lettering.

It might be a very early Blüthner since the name of the founder is:
Julius Ferdinand Blüthner:

The change in the spelling of "Blüthner" would suggest that is an early example of a kind of stencil piano like countless lesser manufacturers used to produce to trade on the names of the great piano makers.

It is pure speculation on my part. I do not have a shred of evidence to support my guess.

Greetings from Kiwiland.

I tend to agree that it is a deceptive name. Though I really like Steimway & Suns, I wish they weren't so expensive. There's a real beauty for sale at Sewing Machines & Pianos R-Us right near Philip's house.

It's much easier to bash a Steinway than it is to play one.

It's not much but it's better than nothing... the only thing Google turned up was a classified ad from 1923 from a store named Kiernan's (near Melbourne) selling FERD. BLUTNER pianos:

Code
Here is another masterpiece of Piano
Manufacture. The

        FERD. BLUTNER

characterises the supreme achievement
of piano construction. The beautiful
exteriors encase mechanical perfection,
whilst the gloriously rich tones are an
everlasting pleasure.
    Inspection cordially invited.

I hope that isn't another reference to me!

It's easier to play a Peoples Number 69 Firewood & Piano Cooperative Piano than it is to bash one.
