I am planning to move to Nicaragua within two months where my husband will be helping with electrical work for churches in the country. My question is...

Will it ruin my organ to take it with me? We are planning to ship a forty foot container, and the movers say they'll charge $550 to crate it, but it took me three years to find one I could buy, and I don't want to lose it.

However, my husband thinks it will be ruined in the move, and if not that, then the climate and termites will ruin it within a few years. Do you know if this is true?

The organ is a hammond H series with a 25 note pedal board.

Thanks for your input!

I doubt the move will ruin it. I would recommend you have it serviced before you move and ask the tech to make sure all the connectors are tight and the tubes tight in the sockets. Usually, organs are shipped on organ dollies with moving blankets to protect them. The movers usually have I channel in the wall of the trailers and the organs are strapped to them.
