23. N17 - Dance in G You have made great progress in 5.5 months. You have nice articulation in this piece, and the ornaments sounded natural. Nice performance!
24. Mar_red - Love Story You created a very full, rich arrangement. Great job!
25. joangolfing - Arietta This is probably my favorite from the Grieg Lyric pieces. I like your take on it. Really nice phrasing and nice balance between the hands. Lovely!
26. Sand Tiger - Pancakes You captured the feeling of wistful, happy memories. I like the balance between the melody and the supporting chords. Very nice!
27. (Was)TrueBeginner - Blame Your sadness and concern comes through in this piece. This is really a beautiful and haunting melody. Gorgeous job!
28. ajames - Just a Day Away Outstanding job for 10 months! Your playing is very expressive, and the melody rings clearly over the accompaniment. Nice job.
29. jotur/Cathy Turner - Second Hand Rose Love this! Your submissions always have my toe tapping, but this one truly put a smile on my face. I like your use of detached and legato to give it a bouncy feel. Really fun!
30. PikaPianist - Sonata in F minor, K466 Your expression in this is wonderful, giving it a longing, melancholic sound. I agree pedaling in Scarlatti is very challenging, but your restrained usage here was very nice.
31. Sam S - Suite from the Victorian Kitchen Garden - Prelude and Summer - Clarinet and Piano Truly wonderful! Laurie did great, on what sounds like a challenging piece. You were a great accompanist staying in the supporting role, but I could tell the piano part was not easy- but you made it sound easy! I think it is great the two of you can play together!
32. outo - Fantasia no. 4 E-minor, Allegro Nice dramatic presentation. The voices are well balanced, and the feeling of urgency is maintained throughout. Sounds like it would be fun to play!
33. noobpianist90 - Minuet in G major BWV Anh 114 Your hands look very relaxed! You did a nice job with the expression in this little piece, and I like your ornaments. I think this piece sounds best without pedal, and it assures that you can play a good legato, which you did!
34. Piano_Primo_1 - "Back at One" 5 12 14 1 session You sang this song well. Nice expression and balance between melody and accompaniment.
35. Ganddal - Gratulation What a charming piece! It is full of happiness and spring sunshine after a long winter. Really beautifully played!

Ok, here's batch 2, well done gang: 14. George Schiro - Nice improv, I enjoyed it!
15. peterws/peter - To me, this tune has a Beatles "Norwegian Wood" flavor in it, thanks for introducing it to me ... nice work!
16. sinophilia (Diana) - Your chords sounded pretty perfect in my ears Diana, well done!
17. Mike White - You sight readers are pretty amazing ... absolutely no way I'd live long enough to do that.
18. earlofmar - Yep, sounds like you and Bach quaffed a few Coors Silver Bullets, great job!
19. CASINITALY (Cheryl) - Hey, nice sounds while enjoying the pics ... live steam is music to my ears too.
20. Newbert - Nice work! I would just say use your eyes to learn it and your ears to swing it.
21. MaryBee - Great work Miss Bee!!!
22. Mr Super Hunky - That "Killer BB" has to have talent on the bench to play it, and it does; great job MSH!!
Next batch coming out of the gate around Preakness time.

Thank you for such kind words I think now that I have gotten over the worst embarrasment of my first recital submission, I will commit to taking part in the next one as well. Which should be perfectly timed. I have no lessons during the summer so I have all the time in the world to work on the pieces from this spring. I should be able to record one of them before August. I only need to figure out why my recordings sound so bad when I use one of my two Olympus recorders (LS-5/LS20M). The bass sounds like it's coming from a tomb and the higher sounds are lifeless. (That's why I used the digital camera this time, the quality is not good, but at least it reminds me of the real sound.) There's probably something badly wrong with the mic settings. Or maybe it's the poor room acoustics. Other people seem to get very good recordings with these devices

What better way to spend the late afternoon after a super busy work week, than relaxing with a cup of tea and an ABF recital. Wonderful music, thanks so much to all the performers for such a pleasant interlude! 22. Mr Super Hunky - Everybody Hurts What a gorgeous piano - and you've really made it sing. I don't know this music, but I loved it - especially the rippling higher notes. I liked it so much I went to look up the lyrics-and really liked them too. I think this performance was simply splendid Mr. Super-Hunky. I would love to be able to listen to music and then play it back from the heart the way you do. 23. N17 - Dance in G Dear N17, we all feel we can improve (and of course it is true!) - But you've been playing 5.5 months and turned out a very pretty Haydn Dance - I thought your tempo was quite good and you've definitely caught the flavour of this period piece. You also kept your staccato notes nicely crisp. I love Haydn and it was a pleasure to hear your first recording - I look forward to your next submission! 24. Mar_red - Love Story Who indeed doesn't know this piece? Your intro was great your performance overall was most enjoyable. The wistful melancholy of the music sings out sweetly. 25. joangolfing - Arietta I first heard this piece in the Grieg retical and it was one of the onesI thought I might like to try sometime but haven't yet felt up to managing. I listened carefully to the voices and, sure, there's always room for improvement - but this is already in excellent shape and is really a treat to hear. Lovely work! 26. Sand Tiger - Pancakes Very sweet! This is a charming little piece, and the sentiments are heart warming. It seems to me that your dedication and focus to your compositions is paying off and each one has a bit more depth and colour. 27. (Was)TrueBeginner - Blame This is a beautiful composition, played with feeling but without being overly sentimental. The fragility of our parents is a difficult thing to deal with, knowing that your loss is approaching is heartbreaking. This music is a beautiful tribute. 28. ajames - Just a Day Away No more dolls! This is a very pleasant piece of music - it makes me think of a walk in a park, or cycling beside a river. Very soothing, restful. Nicely played James! 29. jotur/Cathy Turner - Second Hand Rose Sweet!!!! One take! Bravissima. One take when you were feeling a bit sick....extra-bravissima! I don't know this music but I like it. Parts of it sound on the edge of ragtime, there's definitely a bit of old-time western feel to it too - the flubs you mentioned weren't obvious to me, they certainly didn't detract in any way from my listening pleasure. Loved that little cheery finale! Well done indeed Cathy! 30. PikaPianist - Sonata in F minor, K466 Scarlatti wrote so much really pretty music. I was surprised (but pleasantly) by how modern the second half of this piece sounded. You have great control and expression - and you made it seem easy - it flowed beautifully and I thoroughly ejoyed listening to your performance! 31. Sam S - Suite from the Victorian Kitchen Garden - Prelude and Summer - Clarinet and Piano Sam I couldn't see the video..? This was just great! - I loved it - or as there were 2 movement, "them"- beautiful music, and the fact that you're playing a duet with your wife - wow - that's so much fun. I played clarinet/bass clarinet and I can only imagine how hard it was for Laurie to get her embouchure back after 30 years. Ouch. This was a pure delight to sit back and enjoy - congratulations to both of you. And best wishes for your big walk! - and on your 34th anniversary! (We're celebrating 29 years in June)

Thanks, Cheryl, and those who have commented. It's too bad I can't sing, because the words are so clever. This is a piece from the movie Funny Girl, about vaudeville star Fanny Bryce, and starring Barbra Streisand. Her dad owns a second hand store, and she wears "second hand clothes, that's why they call me Second Hand Rose." "Even the piano in the parlor father bought for ten cents on the dollar." Some more great listening this morning: 15. peterws/Peter - Gymnopedies I needed this this morning, beautifully executed, peaceful. 16. sinophilia (Diana) - In Church and this is the perfect follow up! This was beautiful. 21. MaryBee - Nocturne and three in a row. This was very delicate and lovely. 01. dynamobt/Marilyn - Symphony What fun! I tried some simple duets with WiseBuff recently and was totally flummoxed. What a great job you guys did! Brava! Brava! 05. CarlosCC - Quietness I love this - contemplative, with hope. Cathy

03. ShiroKuro - Big My Secret A beautiful and flowing piece. Nice interpretation. 08. 8 Octaves - When River Flowed on Mars Wow! This was great! What a technical challenge, and you met it exceptionally well. 49. Pathbreaker (Tarik) - Intermezzos The first was majestic, and the second reminded of a stream babbling down the mountainside. Very well played. 16. Mike White and his pianos - Torna A Surriento This definitely is people with memories, looking out over the sea from a balcony with wind in their hair. 35. Gandalf - Gratulation What a delightful piece, and your "tinkling" was great! Cathy

04. Anne H - Discovery at Night Thanks for this. I don't think I'll ever play Einaudi, but the music many of you make from it is wonderful.
12. Greener - Moonlight, mvmt 2 I liked your interpretation and the light feel you have the technical skills to give it.
39. Ataru074 - Fugue Oh, nicely done. Very nice movement and flow. Bravo!
42. carlos88 From a sketchbook How atmospheric. You might be right about the sea and the moonlight - that's certainly what your playing evoked. Excellent.
50. Valencia - Sonata What a great idea to focus on the theme! I love hearing works in progress and the thoughtfulness people put in to their playing. I learn so much. Thanks for this!

18. earlofmar - Minuet I played this many years ago and it made me smile to hear it. Yours was like a dance in a dream sequence. Very nice, with a sweet ending. 23. N17 - Dance in G Wow. I know the feeling about performance and recording. It's a whole nother ball game. You had the "dance" down pat - this had just the right lift to it. Terrific! 30. PikaPianist - Sonata Yes, your "slow" gave this a very lovely, lyrical quality. I think it's cool when people explore different interpretations of a piece. This was perfect. 32. outo - Fantasia This was cool! Very jaunty and playful. Well done! 45. tourquenale (alessandra) - Dance This is great, and you are so "at home" with it - really wonderful. 48. Richard (zrtf90) - Waltz What a nice lively, lovely waltz! You did a terrific job on it. It'll leave me waltzing all afternoon Another wonderful recital. Thanks to all who work behind the scenes to put this on, and to all those who record and submit. I look forward to these each quarter. Cathy

22 Mr Super Hunky
Great sounding piano and song. Many songs employ only two chords and utilise that self imposition to excellent effect eith variations on the chords and associated melodies. Makes for good road music . . and heavy metal. Now I`m puting ideas in your head . . . nice work, man! Super Jazzy . .
23 N17
Excellent progress for the time spent; I heard a fluent, competent expressive piece which was well within your capabilities. Great stuff.
24 Mar-red
You play this with your own developed style, and why not? It`s adaptable to many songs and is unique. Well done!
25 Joan Golfing
Modern sounding and lovely not without it`s difficulties. Very nicely and expressively played for our enjoyment!
26 Sand Tiger
It`s good to hear originals. Yours had the feelgood factor and was a great listen. Keep `em coming!
27 (Was) truebeginner
French sounding; moodwise we`ve almost all been there. And this is a thoughtful piece well executed.
28 ajames
Modern flavour which will appeal to many. Einaudi next? GET IN THERE!! Relaxed, easy as Sunday Morning. And it will soon be . . .
29 jotur
Loved the intro. Typical of the era and beyond; "The loveliness of paris . . . " You know the one? Your dancing tempo still comes through. I played for dancing years ago but can`t dance. Chucked all my old stuff out . . as you do. Very nice work, especially memorable for me.
I missed some out here cos I`m babysitting and using a different computer . . . back on track tomorrow!

I want to thank everyone who has listened to and commented on the Mozart duet. I've read some the comments to my sister over the phone. She's relieved that the comments are kind. Well, as I knew they would be. The people on the ABF are always generous and kind with their comments. This effort would have improved with time. But, we didn't have that luxury. We just wanted something to remember the fun we had during her visit. So, I appreciate your willingness to listen through a rather long recording. And I sure like the compliments!! Thanks!
I hope to start listening soon. I have two live recitals coming up. And I'm playing different pieces in each. So, I'm a bit distracted. I really hope to find some time to start listening soon. From the comments I've read, this recital is varied and interesting. I always look forward to the ABF Quarterlies!!

I got everyone here! Congrats on again more improvement from the regulars. What's this recital going to sound like in 10 years? LOL. 01. dynamobt/Marilyn - Symphony No. 40 1st mvt A duet? How fun! I’m just learning organ so I understand the dynamics problem. It’s a fabulous performance with such perfection in time. Amazing! 02. Whizbang (Chris) - Milonga del Angel Chris, what a superb piano sound you’re making here. Amazing touch and such fine ability to balance those voices. And this piece sounds jazzy. Love it! 03. ShiroKuro - Big My Secret Now I’m so curious I have to find out where that edit took place. LOL. Couldn’t hear it though. Lovely sounds and the melody stands out very nicely. Great work! 04. Anne H - Discovery At NightVery nice piece and well played! Probably best to soften the LH when the RH is playing. It’s also quite difficult to play this with perfect evenness. Great job! 05. wouter79 - Kinderszenen, Op. 15, "Von fremden Ländern und Menschen" and "Träumerei". Lovely flow of dynamics in the phrasing. Very nicely done. This is a well chosen piece and perfect for working on what you need at this moment. For the next level, probably need a little more range in dynamics and perhaps notch it down a tad to improve the tone and be conscious about each and every note in the chord (balance). This is very subtle now. You’ve developed very nicely here. Congratulations. 07. AZ_Astro - Seventh Street BluesSweet sound! Your tone is superb for 2 years on the piano. Very advanced sounding. Amazing! Love it. 08. 8 Octaves - When River Flowed on MarsThis is mostly right hand? Wow. That’s impressive! Would be difficult to control dynamics there but would be next level to pursue. Wonderful! 09. SwissMS/Doris - Sonatina in C Major Opus 20 #1 1st MovementLovely Doris! Such a familiar piece that I’ve heard my children play. Great work here. 10. CarlosCC - QuietnessI thought it was an Einaudi piece! I had to do a double take. Wonderful composition and great introspective sound! 11. Peyton - EscapeThat was a surprise to hear you do New Age. I don’t recall ever hearing you play any before. In your hands this music is like putty. Great balance of voices and that ever so gentle bass note is such a nice contrast. And you’re the one with great chops. Not me. Beautiful! 12. Greener/Jeff - Moonlight Sonata, Mvt 2 - Op. 27, No 2.Very nice performance Jeff. The recording was a bit compressed so it unfortunately took away a little from the wonderful performance. 13. Riddler (Ed) - Love Walked InI’m always going to find new tunes when I listen to you. I don’t this one once again. Great tone, touch and voicings. Beautiful performance. You’re quite a treat to listen to Ed. Awesome! 14. George Schiro - AmbivalenceAlways impressed with anyone that improvises because I know it is not easy. This sounds pre-composed. Well done! 15. peterws/peter - Gymnopedies 2 & 3Always impressive chops Peter. Such a fine performance with such finesse in tone and touch. Very nice! 16. sinophilia (Diana) - In Church - Op. 39 no. 24I can tell you’ve improved a lot! I can’t believe you’ve been at this only 2 years. Keep up this great progress. Your touch is definitely much better. Congrats! 17. Yamaha G3 & P-80 Mike White - Torna A SurrientoBeautiful sound. Certainly the best I’ve heard so far from you. Great progress here. 18. earlofmar - Minuet in C Minor BWV Anh 121You’re definitely developing a very nice touch here. I would not have thought that you’ve only playing a little over a year. Fantastic progress. Tone is nice and balance between LH and RH is superb. 19. CASINITALY (Cheryl) - Fughetta Has it really been 4.5 years? My — time has gone by fast and your playing has progressed wonderfully. This delicate playing is really wonderful. Such a nice tone and great control between hands. A+! 20. Newbert - New York State of MindGreat tune! Brings back memories. Some tips to improve your playing. Concentrate on creating a legato sound. The sound is too detached (empty space between notes) on both LH and RH. But at least you were smart not to overuse the pedal or it would ruin this. Very enjoyable listen Newbert! 21. MaryBee - Nocturne in C minor, No. 21Such noticeable improvement ever since you’ve had a teacher, and the improvement is constant. This is very beautiful playing. Some over pedaling perhaps at points. Truly a wonderful performance and played so expressively (nice rubato) and nice balance of voices. 22. Mr Super Hunky - Everybody HurtsSuch a powerful piano sound wow! And surely your recording quality is amazing. Played with such skill and experience now! Can’t believe we started almost at the same time 9 years ago! Great tone! 23. N17 - Dance in GWhat a great performance! You’ve done so well at 5.5 months! Building your skills very well here. Very nice. 24. Mar_red - Love StoryGreat rendition to a wonderful pop tune! Very enjoyable. 25. joangolfing - Arietta Lovely! Great touch and tone and wonderful balance of voices. What a wonderful listen! 26. Sand Tiger - PancakesAlready composing tunes? Very nice Sand Tiger? Sounds great. Try to play more legato though, the breaks in the piece makes the time seem un-even. 27. (Was)TrueBeginner - BlameBeautiful! So many composers here lately. And this is another amazing one. Truly a treat and played wonderfully. 28. ajames - Just a Day AwayNice tune. Very familiar sounding but I just can’t place it right now. Played wonderfully. 29. jotur/Cathy Turner - Second Hand RoseSuch beautiful playing Cathy! This would have been a great treat at one of your gigs. Sounding better and better! Truly a treat listening to you my friend. 30. PikaPianist - Sonata in F minor, K466 Great chops! Such a delight to listen to such superb piano tone in a very delicate piece. Amazing. 31. Sam S - Suite from the Victorian Kitchen Garden - Prelude and Summer - Clarinet and PianoWow this is a truly special event here. First of all, a first for you Sam to have such a submission. Next is the beauty of listening to two wonderful instruments. Your wife plays beautifully and needs to sit in on my gigs! And the accompanying pianist is playing perfectly with perfect time. Doesn’t sound easy at all with those block chords. Congrats on such a great job for the duet! 32. outo - Fantasia no. 4 E-minor, Allegro Fun listen. Outstanding performance and excellent progress! 33. noobpianist90 - Minuet in G major BWV Anh 114Very nice! Beautiful tone and very well played. 34. Piano_Primo_1 - "Back at One" 5 12 14 1 sessionHey, a one-take performer like me! Awesome! Way to do it. Sounds great. You’re doing very well here. I would suggest playing this with a metronome though to get the time solid and avoid the empty spaces by playing more legato. 35. Ganddal - Gratulation Very nice touch on the piano! Obviously many, many years here. Amazing. 36. Ohio_Mark - Beach Buggy BoogieGreat tune! And great sound. Love it. You might want to practice with a metronome to solidify the time since you were wavering quite a bit there. Enjoyable! 37. Monica K. - Scarborough FairThe player got ahead of me and I haven’t read yet who was performing and I was impressed to see it was you Monica. This is just a great performance. Superb tone and evenness. Years of Einaudi must have solidified that time! Beautiful and loving that growl of the bass. 38. gingko2 - Ivan Sings (Andantino) Very nice tone and you’re very successful in achieving great balance between the voices. If there’s any banging there (which I couldn’t hear) then I have a long way to go myself then. LOL. 39. Ataru074 - BWV 866 Fugue Beautiful! Good legato sound. Done so precisely and evenly. 40. Copper - To a Wild RosePlayed so nicely Copper! And for a self-taught pianist, I can assure you I can hear improvement as well. And congratulations for continuous participation in the recitals. 41. Andy Platt - Romanian Folk Dances, Sz. 56Lovely Andy! Great piece and lovely performance. To bring it up a notch, I would sit down and practice those triplets for awhile though to get them completely even. Maybe start slow. Great variety here and lovely change in dynamics. 42. carlos88 - From a sketchbook (D'un cahier d'esquisses) You’re getting great tone here Carlos. Great sound. Not sure you need to be concerned about mistakes. The capability is all quite visible (and audible). Wonderful work. 43. Jazztpt (Russ) - PicturesHere’s my tone idol right here! Always looking forward to listen to you play so I can get a few tips. Such awesome sounds you get from the piano. You picked up the tempo from the start. Going faster and faster. Was that intentional? Must be because it was too deliberate. 44. wimpiano - Telemann - Fantasia in E MinorCongrats on your first recital! And you should be proud of your work for someone that just started. Welcome and keep up the great work. Glad you participated. 45. torquenale (alessandra) - Dance (from Four Rondos op. 60)Sounds great! Love those chromatic lines done so perfectly legato! Nice tone and great evenness. 46. rerun - Tipitina 5 14 14Don’t worry about anyone else rerun. Just enjoy yourself and submit. Great sound and very enjoyable. Your piano tone sounds very good. I can’t imagine Longhair playing like this though. There’s something missing rhythmically I think. But don’t know for sure. Just something to pay attention to, to bring it up a notch. 47. TrapperJohn - Ashokan FarewellReally enjoyable piece! Played so emotionally. Very nice! 48. Richard (zrtf90) - Waltz in D flat, Op. 64 No. 1Very nice! Quite a capable pianist here. Wonderful sound of the melody standing out. Great tone and expressiveness. 49. Pathbreaker (Tarik) - Op. 118 Intermezzo 1 & 2Another single-take guy like me! That’s the spirit! Beautiful performances here. Lovely tone on those chords. 50. Valencia - Sonata Op. 109 3rd mvt -Theme only!!Fun and beautiful! Good thing you submitted even last minute. Very nice and well done. The tone is really nice so you’re succeeding in your endeavors. Super!

I finally got a few moments to listen to everyone's pieces. Wonderful. And thanks everyone for commenting on my submission. I wonder why so many put what they had for lunch in the description of their music?
01. dynamobt/Marilyn. Mozart Symphony No. 40 1st mvt
Unmistakeably Mozart. One of my favorite symphonies. It's funny you mentioned the pounding, but I thought it worked. It even sounded a bit orchestral. I haven't heard Mozart symphonies on piano before. It's like the Beethoven / Liszt transcriptions, right? I enjoyed it.
02. Whizbang. Piazzolla Milonga del Angel. Not familiar with this genre but it sounded like you've played the piano forever. Thanks for playing for us beginners. I particularly liked the middle part of this piece. It sounded like three pieces of music merged into one.
03. ShiroKuro. Nyman Big My Secret. Participant requested no feedback
04. Anne H. Einaudi Discovery At Night. I recently saw a film on Netflix by Schwartzberg called Ocean with music of Einaudi. When you music came on, I immediately started seeing all those beautiful scenaries of oceans and forests. Great!
05. wouter79. Schumann Kinderszenen, op. 15. Only 4 years on the piano and you play this? I think I need to go back to practicing. Nevermind, I will never catch up. I might as well just enough listening. Great job too.
06. Jazzwee. Jazzwee All the Things You Are Improv. Wow. You compose and play. Sick. I don't know much about jazz but it sounds good. Amazing.
07. AZ_Astro. Mier Seventh Street Blues. Very serene. I didn't know you can record Ivory 2 without a DAW. I need to PM you. Great sound.
09. SwissMS. Kuhlau Sonatina in C op. 20 mvt 1. This has got to be my absolutely favorite Kuhlau sonatina. I always perk up when I hear it, and having heard it 500 times this year, I still really like it! Actually like it even more.
10. CarlosCC. CarlossCC Quietness. Wow another composer. I am really impressed. Speechless. So amazing.
11. Peyton. Philip Glass Escape. I really like Philip Glass. I think you have captured his style well. Glass is unique and unmistakeable. I think I started working and forgot I was listening to the recital thought it was the radio. Love 2:23 in this piece.
12. Greener. Beethoven Sonata #14 in C# minor, op. 27, no. 2. I agree the 1st movement is really over played, so very refreshing to hear the 2nd movement. I got into it so much when the end came I was expecting the 3rd movement to begin but then, oh, it's over!
13. Riddler. Gershwin Love Walked In. I must admit, I don't really seek out Gershwin to listen to. I find This piece very pleasant hearing it for the very first time. Thanks for choosing to play it.
14. George Schiro. Schiro Ambivalence. What's with all the talent here? This piece of music sound a bit like anime music at first, then a bit jazzy, then back to anime. It's very interesting and cool. Thanks for writing and performing it.
15. peterws. Satie Gymnopedies 2 & 3. OK. Back to classical music. Very true to Satie's intentions and mood. Nice playing.
16. sinophilia. Tchaikovsky In Church, op. 39, no. 24 Really nice playing. Hard piece. Nice coda.
17. Yamaha G3 & P-80. de Curtis Torna A Surriento. Nice mood. You found it just the other day? Pretty amazing. 18. earlofmar. Bach Minuet in C minor BWV Anh 121. Bach is earth shattering in my book. Not sure which other piece you planned that would be more flashy, but Bach is very flashy and always hard. Nice job here.
19. Casinitaly. Pachelbel Fughetta. I thought this guy only wrote the Canon in D. Kidding. Nice piece. I haven't heard this before. Thanks for treat.
20. Newbert. Joel New York State of Mind Did you see that YouTube vid of that kid at school asking Joel if he could play with him on stage. This was the song. Nice playing.
21. MaryBee. Chopin Nocturne in C minor, no. 21. This sounds to me like a properly played nocturne. Good job.
22. Mr Super Hunky. REM Everybody Hurts. I wonder why so many rock groups write stuff in major sunny bright happy key then give it some horribly sad title and lyrics. Coldplay seem to do that for every song. Anyway, if you didn't tell me what this song was called, I would guess "A Wonderful Day at the Beach". Nice playing; wrong title. Haha.
23. N17. Haydn Dance in G. Hey that's my first Haydn from Fundamental Keys. I recognize it from anywhere. Hey you even played the repeat. Good for you. Thanks for choosing this and bring back the memories. Good work!
24. Mar_red. Lai Love Story. Love this Shirley Bassey song from the 70's. My parents used to play this song on the stereo all the time when the movie debut. Good job.
25. joanjolfing. Grieg: Arietta. Lovely melody. Really expressive. Thanks for playing this RCM Level 6 piece. Now I know what it sounds like.
26. Sand Tiger. Sand Tiger: Pancakes. Another composer, amazing. Very cute song. Love the title. Very inspirational and wonderful story.
27. (Was)TrueBeginner. (Was)TrueBeginner: Blame. Very very sad song. It's like the piano is crying. Amazing composition.
28. ajames. Crosland: Just a Day Away. Alfred can be kind of stuffy and this is a perfect break. Nice piece, very relaxing. Like.
29. jotur. Hanley/Clark: Second Hand Rose. Paticipant requested no feedback.
30. PikaPianist. Scarlatti: Sonata in F minor, K. 466. Very nicely done. I really like this piece, heard from Pandora many times, and you captured it perfectly with very subtle expressiveness. Really great job.
31. Sam S. Reade: Suite from the Victorian Kitchen Garden. Very great job playing and accompanying. A really awesome job following the clarinet. Great duet.
32. outo. Telemann: Fantasia no. 4 in E minor, Allegro. I really like baroque, and there's just not enough Telemann around. Thanks for choosing this. I enjoy listening to it.
33. noobpianist90. Bach/Petzold: Minuet in G major BMV Anh 114. All the pieces from Anna M. Bach album are awesome. Never tired of this. Very nice phrasing. Good job.
34. Piano_Primo_1. McKnight/Bradley: Back at One. Nice. There's some element of Elton John in this. Good playing.
35. Ganddal. Peterson-Berger: Gratulation. Really interesting piece, hearing it for the first time. Thanks for sharing and playing for us.
36. Ohio_Mark. Mier: Beach Buggy Boogie. Really interesting guitar effect. Not sure how Boogie Woogie should be but it's cool.
37. Monica K. Nevue: Scarborough Fair. Great job. Nevue has a certain unique style. I hear it here. Very nice playing.
38. gingko2. Khachaturian: Ivan Sings. What is wrong Ivan? Why is Ivan Busy, Lazy, Sleepy, and Crazy. Ivan Sings too? Nice. The other Ivan piece are just as awesome amazing music that's funny at the same time. You played it well.
39. Ataru074. Bach: Fugue BWV 866 Really good live recital without trying for second take. Very brave. Good playing.
40. Copper. MacDowell: To a Wild Rose. Nicely done, expressive.
41. Andy Platt. Bartok: Romanian Folk Dances, Sz. 56. I've recently grown to appreciate Bartok after learning a few of his pieces as well. His stuff isn't really melodic and you captured the essence here. Technically hard hard hard.
42. Carlos88. Debussy: From a sketchbook. Participant requested no feedback.
43. Jazztpt. Jazztpt: Pictures. Amazing. This is a wonderful composition. Not a jazz person myself, but it's very inspiring. Thank you for performing it.
44. wimpiano. Telemann: Fantasia in E minor. Nice playing, nice use of color. Having played this as well, definitely partial to it. Good job!
45. torquenale. Kabalevsky: Dance (from Four Rondos, op. 60) Kabalevsky is torturously hard. I'm impressed by all the finger twisting here. Good job.
46. rerun. Prof Longhair: Tipitina. A nice job with this. Pretty smooth playing. I enjoy it!
47. TrapperJohn. Ungar: Ashokan Farewell. Good rendition of this classic. Nice melodic playing. It's stuck in my head now.
48. zrtf90. Chopin: Waltz in D flat, op. 64. no. 1. The waltzing part is really well done at around 0:56. Really good effort.
49. Pathbreaker. Brahms: Intermezzo 1 & 2, op. 118. I really need to get into Brahms more. Great music. Good job.
50. Valencia. Beethoven: Sonata #30 in E major, op. 109, 3rd mvmt. Love this! What a perfect coda for the recital. More more.

Thank you, thank you, Ataru074, Cathy, Jazzwee, 8 Octaves for your nice comments and encouragement. Well, we all know we certainly have a long way to go--but the journey is worth it.
I’ve listened to most but will start with the second half.
I’m impressed at the quality of these performances.
25. joangolfing - Arietta (to do)
Lovely! Nice shaping of the phrases, pauses and retards in the right places.
26. Sand Tiger - Pancakes (to do)
Nice even, thoughtful playing. With simpler pieces some tend to just “blow it off.” This performance has weight. Good job.
27. (Was)TrueBeginner - Blame (to do)
Original? Nice piece and expressive performance.
28. ajames - Just a Day Away (to do)
Very clear. Nice tempo and expression. I enjoyed it. Good job!
29. jotur/Cathy Turner - Second Hand Rose (to do)
Cathy, your piece shows such love and comfort in playing. Wow! I so much respect your public playing and ability to put your audience at ease. Wish I could do it and you’re a good role model. Very nice, I loved it.
30. PikaPianist - Sonata in F minor, K466 (to do)
Beautiful piece and performance. I enjoyed it very much.
31. Sam S - Suite from the Victorian Kitchen Garden - Prelude and Summer - Clarinet and Piano (to do)
I would think marital musical duets could be stressful-even with the best of relationships. Well done and thank you.
32. outo - Fantasia no. 4 E-minor, Allegro (to do)
Nice piece and even performance. The voices are very clear. Well done!
33. noobpianist90 - Minuet in G major BWV Anh 114 (to do)
I enjoyed listening to your performance. Nice tempo, ornaments were just enough.
34. Piano_Primo_1 - "Back at One" 5 12 14 1 session (to do)
Enjoyable performance and neatly done.
35. Ganddal - Gratulation (to do)
Nice and playful.
36. Ohio_Mark - Beach Buggy Boogie (to do)
OK! At first surprised, but got into it. Nicely done!
37. Monica K. - Scarborough Fair (to do)
Lovely version of this traditional piece.
38. gingko2 - Ivan Sings (Andantino) (to do)
Another six months and this might sound like something. More dynamic contrast ‘cause Ivan has a bit of melodrama to his personality.
At least you posted!
39. Ataru074 - BWV 866 Fugue (to do)
Nice control and shape to this! Enjoyed it very much. One take? You have nerves of steel.
40. Copper - To a Wild Rose (to do)
Lovely piece. Thanks for not rushing it. Good expression, very beautiful.
41. Andy Platt - Romanian Folk Dances, Sz. 56 (to do)
I had listened to a version of Joc cu Bata a while ago which was very hard and fast--took all the grace out of it. I like your tempos of all the pieces and the mix of dance and song--that is, there’s expression and a little poignancy. Something else is going besides foot-stomping.
I want to go back and take another look at Joc cu Bata (and someday the others). Thanks for the inspiration!
What was your favorite?
42. carlos88 - From a sketchbook (D'un cahier d'esquisses) (to do)
I love Debussy--but he’s never easy! Enjoyed your performance very much.
43. Jazztpt (Russ) - Pictures (to do)
Great! Very impressive. I enjoyed it very much. I toy around with simple jazz sometimes but this is amazing. Thanks for sharing.
44. wimpiano - Telemann - Fantasia in E Minor (to do)
Even, with clear voices. Good job.
45. torquenale (alessandra) - Dance (from Four Rondos op. 60) (to do)
I love Kabalevsky. Very playful yet solid. Good performance with just the right amount of humor.
46. rerun - Tipitina 5 14 14 (to do)
Nice even performance!
47. TrapperJohn - Ashokan Farewell (to do)
Nice rendition. Good expression and control which doesn’t get melodramatic. Enjoyed it.
48. Richard (zrtf90) - Waltz in D flat, Op. 64 No. 1 (to do)
Good control with nice expression, some few nicely placed pauses make it sound like music and not an exercise!
49. Pathbreaker (Tarik) - Op. 118 Intermezzo 1 & 2 (to do)
Brahms is tough! I’ll never play his works myself.) Impressive performance. Thank you!
50. Valencia - Sonata Op. 109 3rd mvt -Theme only!! (to do)
Lovely, just lovely! Hope you don't mind that I can't say more.

A cool (almost wintery), quiet Sunday and what a great way to spend it listening to the recital. Thanks for all the comments on my piece (you know who you are), I find the encouragement so valuable.
01. dynamobt/Marilyn - Symphony No. 40 1st mvt Glad you and your sister had fun. I really enjoyed listening to this despite all the warnings and I thought what a wonderful relationship you have to be able to share something so magical. I believe there is a time and place to just bang out a bit of music and this was it, well done to both of you.
02. Whizbang (Chris) - Milonga del Angel Glad I watched the video to see the complexity of this wonderful piece. Reading the detail you supplied was also very revealing. I really loved the drama of the piece and your playing, such a delight.
03. ShiroKuro - Big My Secret No technical feedback, good because I doubt I will ever have that skill. You have every right to be proud of this piece for to my ears this was a sensational listen.
04. Anne H - Discovery At Night Wow, this is only 1.5 years back in the saddle. Very expressive and powerful I loved it. Also had the great pleasure of seeing the man in concert this year with was awe inspiring.
05. wouter79 - Kinderszenen, Op. 15, "Von fremden Ländern und Menschen" and "Träumerei". Didn’t they also say Beethoven’s metronome was broken, I thought the good old days everything was made to perfection. Anyway whatever the speed this is a beautiful performance, totally in command, I particularly enjoyed the longing of the piece piece.
06. Jazzwee - All the Things You Are Improv Your one take improvisation is my idea of what makes a great pianist.
07. AZ_Astro - Seventh Street Blues So nice, gave a sense of restrained elegance, I can hear why you found it so attractive and what a great achievement to get it sounding this good in only a month.
08. 8 Octaves - When River Flowed on Mars Alas it was over all too soon, so nice to listen to, the voicing was first class.
09. SwissMS/Doris - Sonatina in C Major Opus 20 #1 1st Movement Your playing was delightful, I have listened to this many times being part of the repertoire I will be learning next year. You made it look to easy lol.
10. CarlosCC - Quietness Great art is usually born of suffering, unfortunately. You have created an exceptional homage and original work. I was very moved by this piece.
11. Peyton - Escape I love the recitals because I get to listen to so much variety. Loved the piece, loved the playing and as always left wanting more. Got distracted and also listened to your Gnossienne #1 which was very good indeed.
Surprisingly easy, barely an inconvenience. Kawai K8 & Kawai Novus NV10 13x

I'm still listening and will keep posting comments little by little, but I wanted to explain to 8 Octaves and anyone else who might not know the thing about "no technical feedback." There are that many of us who select it, so I think some people don't even notice it, and some don't realize what it means. Just to be clear, the request is for "no technical feedback" not no feedback at all. This option was added a long time ago because some people don't want technical feedback on our recital submissions. I can only speak for myself, but the request for no technical feedback is not because I think my playing has no room to improve, but because I work with my teacher on my playing, and when I submit something to the recital, I have it as polished as I can get it and I just want to share the finished version regardless of how much room there still is for improvement. Personally, I love to know that people listened and if they enjoyed it that makes me very happy. So just so you know for future reference Oh, also, not everyone comments on everyone's recording, so you can just erase parts of the recital template for pieces that you don't comment on. Again, just FYI. Don't feel obligated to comment on my or anyone else's recordings!

Cathy, thank you for listening! Interpretation is always challenging, but definitely moreso with this piece than others that I've played recently, so thank you for noticing that. Jazzwee, I was waiting for someone to say that! Anyway thanks for listening and I'm glad you liked it. Earlofmar, thank you for your kind words! I still hear so many areas that need improvement, but I'm really happy I could share it with everyone here and I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Ok, here are a few more, I am really enjoying everyone's recordings!! 15. peterws/peter - Gymnopedies 2 & 3 Peter, very nice! Soothing and relaxing, you play beautifully. I know what you mean about discipline, I've felt that to be hard with Satie's Je te veux and the first Gymnopedies. Have you considered (or played) any of the Gnossiennes? I played the first, and I really want to add the 4th to my repertoire. They are very quirky IMO. 16. sinophilia (Diana) - In Church - Op. 39 no. 24 I can't tell anything wrong with your chords, I think it all sounds great! I can't comment too much about dynamics since I don't know this music, but I will say I always find my digital to be limiting in terms of dynamics, so I try to keep the image of how it sounds when I play an acoustic, or at my lesson piano and that does help when I'm on the digital. In any case, very nice job! 17. Yamaha G3 & P-80 Mike White - Torna A Surriento Very cool that you heard this on the radio and then were able to go and find the score! That's great. I guessed from the title that's Italian, but wow, does it ever sound Italian, I can tell why you wanted to play it. 18. earlofmar - Minuet in C Minor BWV Anh 121 Great job! You're doing very well! Bach is always harder than it looks and although yes, he does make us work hard, there's a lot to be gained there and I think you're really getting it! 19. CASINITALY (Cheryl) - Fughetta Wonderful! You know, poor Pachelbel, his other piece is so famous that I think it's often forgotten that he actually composed a bunch of other pieces. Your playing in this recording is very good and can tell you enjoyed playing this! Those little puzzles are quite tricky and I thought you did them quite well! 20. Newbert - New York State of Mind Nice! The piece builds nicely as it goes along. I couldn't tell which parts you added (which is a good sign because it shows how well they fit). Great job! 21. MaryBee - Nocturne in C minor, No. 21 Oh, wonderful! I've been thinking I might try a nocturne myself (I was thinking the E minor, 72-1 IIRC) but maybe this would be a good one to start with. Those "random number against random number" passages are so intimidating, but yours sound lovely! And you do capture the mysteriousness which is what I always find most compelling in Chopin's nocturnes. You've inspired me to go and find the score for this now! Wonderful recording! 22. Mr Super Hunky - Everybody Hurts Awesome, I love that we get to hear REM/MSH/The Coors after Chopin! I don't know the Coors cover (I don't think) but I sure do know the original, and you nailed it! Great playing and great arrangement! Ok, time for bed, looking forward to more tomorrow

Thanks for the clarifications. Being new to the recitals, I wanted to take the safe path just in case. I did enjoy your piece from The Piano. I've had this CD since seeing the film in the cinema long ago. It brings back memories. Thanks for playing it on the recital.
