It's Fun to Play the Piano ... Please Pass It On!
ShannonG You`re starting off on a sound footing; looking to jazz, or similar? You seem to have a feel for it. Was that your hamster having a dive in the goldfish bowl at the end?
Shannon, it sounded to me like you were listening to the music as you expressed it. Great job and congratulations on your first recording. Look forward to more
Hello everybody, I've been in love with Chopin since forever and I finally managed to play a piece of his somewhat crudely but nevertheless to the end. Here it is :
Very good indeed! My wife played this. Some play it so fast they lose it`s essence, I think. This is really on track. It`ll get better as time progresses. Excellent work.
Wuxia that was truly beautiful. You must have 8 fingers on your right hand to hit all those notes! Peter, I couldn't play yours, but others have had success so the fault must lie with me.
Yamaha LU101, Casio CDP220R. 1968 Mason & Risch 'frankenpiano' only the cat plays. It's where our musical journey began though so I refuse to get rid of it.
Thank you guys =] I play on a cheap Kawai CL36 digital piano that has a somewhat bad keyboard and an even worse sound but as my 'Loc: ' suggests that's the best I can afford. My love for Chopin though is never-ending =]

Don`t decry a cheap digital; Mine`s cheaper than yours . . .and it`s gonna be around for a bit yet! They are great fun.
@ladypayne Gorgeous arrangement, I really loved this.
@Inlanding and Sinophilia - I listen almost exclusively to Classical Music but actually hearing people perform these jazz pieces makes me wanna delve into the genre more. Lovely playing =]
Your link worked perfectly on my laptop. That is a soulful bit o' jazz right there! And bravo for having percussion come in mid-piece. That would send me into a huge tailspin...

wuxia, that was really nicely done. Such a difficult piece to get the right tempo and rubato. Very enjoyable listen.
peterws, sounded like you were having a ball. Someday I'm gonna work up the courage to try playing along with a rhythm track. Sweet, swinging arrangement of Clear Day.
Liebestraum 3, Liszt Standchen-Schubert/Liszt arr Sonata Pathetique-Adagio LVB Estonia L190 #7284
Love this tune Glenn. I don't play it much at a gig because it's slow but you do it with a lot of energy that it felt really good at this tempo. You're Mr. Blues man!
This month's entry is Stevie Wonder's Another Star. Hopefully it is not an April Fool's joke This is from an arrangement that I've tried to lift from the excellent young drummer Yoron Israel and his inspired piano player Laszlo Gardony. I've had to substitute myself on jazz guitar for the tenor sax player in the band. It is a ...really...fun song to play though!
I'm continuing fledgling efforts at trying to play outside the changes on the piano solo. Jazztpt said it might be easier at faster tempo than on ballads. Not sure about that one yet
Thought I'd go ahead and start the April piano bar this month. Hope you guys are enjoying spring. It's actually been fairly nice up here in Alaska. Hardly any snow at least where I live and it has been in the low 40s/high 30s. Pretty nice for this time of year Usually we have more snow and it's still cold.
peterws' getting into it! Oh yes! Play on Brother!
wuxia....that was really nice. Enjoyed it.
mattroilahn.... I really liked that. Sweet song. Played it nicely. BTW: They should put your music stand in the Piano World Hall of Fame for creativity.
Inlanding....another nice jazz. Going great.

Really beautifully played Mattro, great cadence. It made me feel a bit melancholy, which I think it was supposed to. Powerful song!
