Look, I'm having concerns about the way Roland let everybody down on the promised support for a windows computers users plain editor to fully integrate the flagship professional top line gear Integra 7 in a professional windows music production environment, the entire planet is having the same concerns, Roland does not ignore it, you can see about that in every publishers review, in every customers review, you can read about the complain on every forum, gearlutz, harmony central, kvr, you name it, you can even find music shop Roland dealers who openly advertise against the plea these exclusivity contracts linking the puppets firm to third party users, namely here Roland, and suggest not buying Roland flagship or products if they persist in this suicide policy to tell the half of the world to go [censored] themselves, do you get it better that way?

You represent here a silly company who is really making marketing about products people will just stop buying tomorrow because of this lack of support. You will see the next line up today will suffer exactly the same issue in a few months, and so on. Roland nearly found itself recently in the very same situation Korg was in the mid 80ies, but today the market is wild and there's no room for a Yamaha salvage, especially since Roland is Yamaha's fist competitor in the music instruments business.

But fine, with me I know it as we all do, the communities of musicians really bored with this unacceptable situation with the Roland products, and there's no real Roland community (guess why..), and as you keep telling me to phone the support line, then you know what, never mind the future of the bankrupt of this big Roland firm, let's buy controllers and computers, let's look at Kurzweil, Nord, Physis, Kawai, etc., let's buy fine sampled pianos, real innovative piano modelling software, and let's play music with these truly user friendly tools instead!

Roland go do your homework

Mr. nice communication simply doesn't cut it

I think it's great that Jay is here. Roland has long been absent from the forum, but that has changed. Small steps are sometimes required before giant strides. Everyone has beefs with manufacturers from time to time, sometimes justifiable, sometimes not, but I don't think it helps to lambast one person whom we'd much rather have here than not.

There are things that I'd prefer Roland do differently, as I would Yamaha, Kawai, Casio, Korg and the rest, and with constructive and polite dialogue, it may be possible to influence direction in small ways. But it will take time. We may need to have a little patience and forbearance!

I have a feeling "In A Silent Way" isn't going to last long here. This is often such a civilized board, that sort of dialogue sticks out like a sore thumb.

/lurker popping his head up

Glad to have someone from Roland on board. I sold my stalwart FP-7 when moving to Texas last month and after trying out the CP4 am about to go full bore and order an RD800. Can't wait. smile

Proud owner of the V-Piano here. I would like to try out some of your patches as well.

Its been crazy nice here this winter for sure! As you can see in my tagline that I'm a proud Kawai VPC1 owner (had to order it from sweetwater in the U.S.) but I like a lot of the innovations Roland has been making with their instruments. The modelling technology in particular I hope they will continue to develop.

Cheers!

Great timing Jay. Just yesterday I purchased a 508 so I'm pleased to see someone from Roland here. My wife is the piano player in the family but I'm hoping she can teach this old dog how to play as well.

Awesome, thank you and congrats!

May I ask from which dealer you purchased your HP508? And what finish you purchased?

Are you reading this scrolling backwards or what?!!

I don't know what you are talking about. When I slide my fingers up/down on the track pad, the whole text is going up/down, following my fingers, I just drag the text as on a smartphone/tablet. I've tried this on PC-laptops and it is very awkward and counterintuitive - you have to slide your fingers up in order to drag the text down, WTF!? Anyway, you can change the direction of scroll if you prefer to use the reverse way, so I still don't understand what you are talking about.

Have you reversed your mouse pointer direction as well? To me it seems you would prefer the mouse pointer to go up when you move the mouse down in order for you not be considered a puppet smile
