I'm listening to your Gaspard..... It's beautiful. Thank you for sharing, and may your talents lead you to lots of concerts, and may you be paid a wage commensurate with your talents! :-)

The finals have started! Time to bump this thread. The video stream might not be working, or...? I heard there were some troubles. Here's the link to the radio broadcast, but I have no idea whether its possible to listen outisde of finland or not...

Just a friendly reminder - before any discussions start - that this is the internet, and its very much possible that any comments made on the pianists performing will be found by them afterwards. This is not an unknown forum after all. Also, be aware that we were all given ONE rehearsal, lasting less than an hour (plus a run-through on the concert day, of course). Acceptable circumstances perhaps for the three pianists playing Liszt first - slightly trickier with a piece like Prok 5th, but the orchestra is overall doing a good job, and seem to enjoy playing the piece!

Wow, what a great opportunity for you, congratulations!

Wow. I spend hundreds of hours on getting all things right, I can even spend a full hour with my teacher on the interpretation of a simple piece . And now you have to do this in less than an hour with a complete orchestra. How exactly does that work?

Do tune in tonight anyone who is interested, the last day of finals in the Ilmari Hannikainen competition offers a very interesting program: Englund 1st concerto, Prokofiev 5th, and Liszt 1st. Video streaming! Concert starts in 2 hours. The radio link probably only works in Finland, try the video streaming link I posted in my initial message

I know, right?

I feel unreasonably proud of his accomplishment. Like I had anything to do with it. But, somehow, I feel a small amount of ownership, like we're family. Does anybody remember that Simpson's episode where Barney and Homer are competing to be chosen as the next NASA astronaut? At the end of the competition, the director says, "In a way, you're both winners. In another more accurate way, only one of you won." LOL!

The best part was watching him win. The only thing more striking than all that spectacular hair was his enormous smile. Just fanTAStic.

We all share in the accomplishments of our members. When one of "us" has a major achievement, we can't help but feel a part of it.

Congratulations!
