Hi, fnork! Haven't heard this one in many years -- Wow! Why did I have it in my head that this was a thorny, difficult piece? I especially liked the clarity of your voicing throughout. I believe some of the material could be richer and more "Romantic" in feel, but this performance clearly exhibits the wonderful lyricism and singing qualities of this composition. I can now understand what all the shouting is about, so to speak. Thanks for sharing!

Awsome! I admire both the composer and anybody able to play the sonata the way you. Great clarity and touch combined with a wonderful ability to express the dramatic aspect of the piece. Thanks for sharing!

I'm interested in atonal piano music but am somewhat intimidated by the extremely complex rhythms composers like Schoenberg used. I have the scores but I havn't looked at them yet. How does one play those crazy rhythms, is it just counting or is there something else that can be done?

I think it's great but I don't know much about atonal music so maybe I'm not the best judge. I like stuff like Sun Ra and other progressive/experimental music so I am very open to stuff like this.

I was listening to a Sun Ra cd at work a long time ago and a co-worker passing heard it and said something to the effect of "What the heck are you listening to???" it was an amusing moment.

For a "work in progress" this is progressing quite well !! grin Good luck with the competition.

The only Berg I've performed are the Seven Early Songs, composed from 1905 to 1908. Although similar stylistically, the Sonata (written in 1909) seems to look toward the future while the Seven Early Songs reflect the influence of Richard Strauss.
