Hi everyone.
Owen Jander's version of Orpheus in the Hades applied to Beethoven's 4th concerto Andante con moto (2nd mov.).

Hope you like it!

For me this is one of the most amazing five minutes in music.

Truly Lovely

It's much easier to bash a Steinway than it is to play one.

Yeah, this 5 minutes are sublime! The way they are connected to this Orpheus passages in the book "The Orpheus' Concerto" also caught my attention! The end is just breathtaking... smile

I saw this a while back, but it's very well done and effective! It's one of the greatest middle movements in music, in my opinion.

For different reasons entirely, I also love the middle movement of the fifth piano concerto.

EDIT: Just realized this was an old thread. Oh well, nice to see it again.

You mean that awesome moment at the end of the middle movement?

The bassoons move down a half-step to Bb, the horns quietly sustain the new dominant, and the strings, pizzicato, provide the dramatic anticipation of something REALLY cool about to happen.

Who else but a Beethoven could have thought of this?

It's awesome, and remarkably simple... Just go down a half step and play the theme of the third movement slowly a couple times, then attaca! Looks like something any composer could do, but only Beethoven could do it that well.

Although, I love the main theme of the second movement. I can't tell you how many times I pop that movement on whenever I look through old pictures or old internet conversations.
