Hey all,

I recently finished a series of podcast episodes having to do with playing the blues, from a blues piano and jazz piano perspective. There's over 5 hours total, from beginning blues progressions through advanced usage of the blues scale, including several downloadable files. I thought I'd pass 'em on.

Here they are:

Episode 009: 12-Bar Blues Progressions for Beginners
Episode 010: 12-Bar Blues Progressions for Intermediate Players
Episode 011: 12-Bar Blues Progressions for Advanced Players

Episode 013: The Blues Scale for Beginners
Episode 014: The Blues Scale for Intermediate Players
Episode 015: The Blues Scale for Advanced Players

Have fun!

James

Hey!

I just listened to the first one and I thought it was delightful and informative.

Thanks for posting.

reviewing the beginners episodes... really like the 009 explanations... never heard it that way and now i understand much more. Not so much a fan of the 013 podcast just cause i'd prefer a video, but the material is good. Hope to review the intermediate stuff soon, but I'm not a real good pianist, but very interested in learning some blues and rock progressions for songs... like many of clapton's live youtube stuff... the piano is great on those vids and i'd love to learn how to pick up accompanying riffs/licks/chords for those songs.

Thank ya!

Glad you got something new and helpful from 009. And your point is very well taken about the advantage of video. FYI I'm hoping to start making some videos soon. On the other hand, I love how an audio podcast sort of necessitates slowing things down, and I also find that it lends itself especially well to more "philosophical" subjects.

At any rate, as far as visuals go, remember that you do have the notated version of that lick, found on the show notes here.

Looking forward to hearing what you think about the other episodes. Even though they are more advanced, hopefully there will be some helpful "nuggets" there for you too. smile
