I hope I am about to attach a link or an image showing some of the work done on my piano. A technician who has seen the hammers says they are not BEchstein. Now all hammers look alike to me but I just wondered if anybody has any observations to make on them and the work done. I realise it is a long shot as it is from a single photo taken using a phone.

Yep it is a long shot for sure as only the strike point can be viewed.
Need to see the entire hammer and molding.

Thank you. I have emailed you another couple of photos.

The piano sounds good so I am hoping the work has been done well.

I've gotten hammered at weddings.

Marty in Minnesota

It's much easier to bash a Steinway than it is to play one.

OK, .. that makes perfect sense.

Marty, go back inside. That cold Minnesota air is gonna hammer you worse than any wedding refreshments ever could. laugh

Those hammers are a lined up and ready to go at a moment's notice.

Hi Phillip - I do think it appropriate to mention that being white, and in the condition that they're in, that they are certain to be made of virgin wool. Chuck

I am not sure what is meant by "they are not Bechstein". It begs the question: "What are Bechstein hammers?"

"Being Bechstein" might mean:
a) Hammers made by Bechstein
b) Hammers received from Bechstein
c) Hammers made for Bechstein

Comments:
to a): Bechstein does not make hammers

to b): Hammers received from Bechstein would most likely be the Renner hammers they use in current production. These are probably not what you would want to put on a vintage Bechstein. There are "non-Bechstein" hammers that are arguably better suited to a vintage Bechstein than "Bechstein hammers" for current models.

to c): Hammers made for Bechstein would come from Renner or Abel. Again, one must differentiate between hammers for current models and for vintage pianos.

Whether or not the hammers on the piano are appropriate hammers from c), is probably not as important as how they were prepped, installed and voiced.

Hi Jurgen,
The OP sent me a couple of other photos in direct email that were virtually taken from the same angle as the one shown in this thread. From one of the photos it looked like a set of R Blues to me. Pretty difficult to tell accurately. I think he mentions the instrument is a B model and new wire.
