I just listened to a recording of myself playing the variations on twinkle little star from a few years ago and it's HORRIBLE. Probably the worst Mozart recording ever made.

SO I should pick a Mozart piece to learn. What's your VERY favorite piece? What would you learn if you had to pick just one piece?

Kawai RX-5 BLAK
Working on: Chopin Nocturne Op 27 No 1, Mendelssohn Op 19 No 5
Wish list: Beethoven var's c minor, Brahms Rhapsody 2, Schubert Klavierstucke #2

The Sonata in D major K.311 and the Adagio in b minor. Many of the very seldom performed variation sets are also terrific.

I already learned K333 and K485. I also keep the first and third movement of K331 roughly in my repertoire.

I guess the Rondo in D major K485 might be a good choice to learn a piece of Mozart.

My grand piano is a Yamaha C2 SG.
My other Yamaha is an XMAX 300.

Sonata in A minor K. 310 is my very favorite, but I have been playing the Adagio in B minor recently and think it is very beautiful.

The K 333 is definitely my favorite Mozart solo piano work. I'm pleased to see that it's getting many "votes."

When I first learned K333, I hated it. It has since grown on me. I also enjoy K311, 330, 331, and 332.

However, my favorite is still K310.

Rondo in F, K494, has something quite charming in it. I love the F Minor section - it always gives me chills.
My favorite pieces probably will be Fantasy and Fugue in C and Sonata in D, K576.

I was going through a technique overhaul, and it was highly recommended by my teacher as a good way to re-introduce my revamped technique to the repertoire. I should probably stop briefly to clarify that when I say I hated it, I mean that I hated learning it. Musically, I really enjoyed it. Here's a brief "why":

At the time, I did not enjoy anything before the romantics. If it came before Beethoven, I didn't play it. From a listening standpoint, I always enjoyed them, but when my technique was horrendous, it took a long time to learn anything. Because of that, I hated learning them, but enjoyed playing them. Took a lot of musical maturity to invest myself in classical and earlier works, and now that the learning process is significantly shorter, I've really come to enjoy them. smile

The Minuet in D and the Gigue in G are two nifty pieces. The minuet has wild (for the time) dissonances.

The early variations on "Mio Caro Adone" are lovely.

My vote for this wonderful piece as well.
I'm so looking forward to starting to learn it later this year - I have to bring Rach Elergie to performance level first. Cannot wait.
