Lance:

So what, if anything, is working for you? I do not think tuning sequences are a one-size-fits-all sort of thing and am always interested in what others use.

Jeff, I have been using the Sanderson accu-tuner either using the FAC Program or just choosing the generic tuning for whatever type piano I am tuning. I tune fron A0 to C8, setting the pitch with the tuner and tuning unisons aurally. I then check entire keyboard for octave and unison accuracy.

I've tuned from spinets to 9 foot grands. I was generally happy with the tunings and had no major complaints from clients. Seems to me the quality of the instrument dictates how good the tuning really sounds...all tunings being equal.

Though I've been a piano player for many moons, I've been tuning only 5 years. I could probably do a pitch raise aurally,
but not sure about a fine tuning...so I'm working at it.

Welcome, Lance,

I enjoy the culture in your area and often go there on vacations. I love Cajun music and can speak the Cajun language and have a Cajun diatonic (button)accordion. I cook a great chicken & sausage gumbo and shrimp etoufée (we can't get any crawfish up here).

good luck to you in your piano tuning endeavors. Musicianship is always an asset.

Keep your eye out for a piano tuner game Chris Leslie and I are working on. You will be able to follow a sequence or input your own, tune note by note, listening to user programmed steps, and get scored. Full temperament, Skeleton, octaves, etc.
