One of the current trends in composition is never repeating the same theme. That's what I hear in this piece. This leads me to believe this was an improvisation or is based on one. While your piece does have a sense of drama the lack of returning themes detracts from its appeal. By the end I wanted to hear the slow alberti bass theme again (something you couldn't have convinced me of at the beginning).

yeah very nice, i have felt a bit sadness in it hehe, you can fill in some trills there are some nice spot in composition where u can put them. Good job, keep it that way.
Also you can check mine, similar to this theme:

Some nice ideas in this.... my favourite part was around 1:30 - was a nice change in mood. I think the only part I'd change was right at the end - I think I'd have gone with sustained chords, rather than staccato. Just my opinion though. Was v. relaxing overall. How long have you been playing / composing?

I just let the music go where it wants so in that sense it is improvisation in that no great thought wad given to themes or structure. I also produce electronic music which is highly repetitive so when writing for piano I gravitate towards a freer style. I don't get what you mean by 'something you couldn't have convinced me of at the beginning'?
I've been playing and composing since 2008.
Thankyou for taking time to listen and critique.

It means I didn't feel the slow alberti bass theme was very strong, but by the end I was craving to hear something familiar. Thematic development has been a feature of most music for many centuries. You don't have to bring a theme back in exactly the same form but by referencing a previous theme and changing it a bit you build transformation into the work. I like to think of themes as characters and as a piece develops the characters learn and grow from their experience.
