I am looking for recommendations for a audio interface to use with my MP8. I would like it to have midi, input more than one keyboard. I would like it to be able to record an acoustic piano in Stereo as well. It needs to be USB. This would be for my home studio. Be able to work with Windows as well as Mac.

I bought an AKAI EIE pro audio interface tonight and when I got home I read the reviews on line and they were really bad. So it will go back to the store tomorrow. But what to buy.

It looks like Focusrite audio interfaces have some good reviews.

Price range is up to $500.00 What are the folks that are making home studio recording using that they are impressed with?

The people at Gearslutz speak very highly of the RME Babyface.
MF has a used one for $599

I like my Steinberg UR22. It also comes with a lite version of Cubase ( I purchased Mixcrat instead as it had a lot of plug ins).

The preamps on it in my opinion were good for vocals; better than my Juno Gi.

However, it has just one MIDI in (think it has an Out) and is USB.

It is similar in ratings to the Focusrite 2i2i

The Audiofire Echo and RME Babyface are really good products. The Apogee Duet might also be worth considering. However, they come with 2 audio inputs only. Do you need more than 2 inputs?

The Scarlett 2i2 lacks the MIDI interface.

Take a look at the Scarlett 2i4 for an integrated MIDI interface or the 6i6 for more inputs.

I'm totally happy with my Komplete Audio 6 from Native Instruments which might also serve your needs.

Best regards,
Tom

Are there viewing problems here in the forum?

I see only a blank page where there should be subject\posts.

If I see a link to a thread such as in Our Most Popular Forums or New Topics - Multiple Forums, and click on that link, I will see the initial post and the answers, but not if I look at the Furum where this post resides.

???

Thanks for the suggestions.

I am sorry I haven't responded with a Thank you in a more timely manner, but first there was the glitch and then my computer had a virus and after that I could not connect to my home wireless network. I am sending this from some a different computer.

I hope I don't have as many problems with my computer interfaces smile

Thanks again

Don
