That's what I meant. But given that VPC was hard to get by before, say, June, we can hardly expect that the alleged MP11 is actually in Italian stores now.

I do wonder, why Italy first? AFAIK the economy there is taking a big hit and I'm guessing there's not a lot of disposable income floating around there.

I was there last March, and maybe it was just the places I went to (mostly churches). Our tour guide who was a native of Naples had mentioned this.

That's great! Maybe the industry will take note that there actually is a market for high end controllers.

I wonder if they allowed to post photos or a demo on YouTube. It would be nice to hear and see it in action... or just see it!

I am very happy that the indonesian Yeti carried the MP11 to Italy. It will soon carry the MP11 to a place near you (and me).

I am not so happy with the posted price of the MP11, it is closing in on the price of the CA65!

I agree, it seems quite pricey. We'll have to see where it ends up once they get around to releasing in the US.

Well, the price in the US (if that's where you are) should be a bit less.

New Korg toy piano:

http://www.korg.com/us/products/digitalpianos/tinypiano

This has got to be preferable to the ubiquitous Schoenhuts and Melissa & Dougs. Korg's marketing is pretty good: (i) "Korg" is spelled "K-teddy bear face-r-g" on the fall board; (ii) they point out that the thing is musical-sounding and in tune (compare Schoenhuts, I can tell you) (Solving every parent's dilemma: How can my baby develop perfect pitch when there's nothing perfect to reference?); (iii) from the video, the piano can be used as a music box and your child will apparently fall instantly into an angelic sleep listening to Debussy, Bach and many others; (iv) it comes in black, fire engine red, pink and white.

So, I'll take one red Korg with my virtual Ravenscroft. For now, I'm keeping my RD-700NX with its companion stand -- both of which seem so much better built (brushed metal, MORE metal, not plastic) than the RD-800. (Poor Roland. They hear everyone grousing about weight, only to get criticized for using too much plastic.)

Love the toy piano, kippesc
Definitely my next gift for my two year old grand…
Don't you need those new white Yamaha HS monitors to go with your new virtual piano and your RD-700NX?

Cheers!

Well, since no replacement for the MP6 in the near horizon, that's looking like it will be my choice to go ahead and purchase for my first digital piano.

I guess I could do worse..... grin

But what's the polyphony on that toy piano? Samples per note? MIDI?

The important details are lacking!

I would like to hear your opinions on the PHA IV action,
I remember last year's thread was very lively, this year is like there is nothing to talk about shocked

Still, if any of you played on the new Rolands, give us some feedback please.

I agree. This NAMM is a snooze. No Kawai. No Casio. Roland made a flimsy version of RD700nx with better action and semi-gimmick Vpiano Grand sound. Yamaha made a flimsy version of CP5 with better action and navigation. Nord Lead A1 - meh, I rather have seen a Nord Piano 3 with new keyboard/action. Korg made more toys - I need a keytar like i need a second A**hole. Speaking of A - thats what Kurzweil added to the end of CUP2.

With that said, JFP said best "wake me up for Musik Messe ...or summer NAMM"

And what did you guys expect? What's going to happen in Musik Messe or summer NAMM? Not much, I think.
Given the rate of progress in DP market, Rolands RD 800 is actualy a pretty big deal - new action, 2 new piano "sample sets". Yamaha's CP4 was launched long before NAMM so you can hardly blame them that they don't have much new stuff and according to some posts here, P-255 is what many people look for in slab DPs. VI Labs have new virtual piano. I didn't follow much of the rest but I think we have seen some interesting things and I certainly wasn't expecting much more.

I agree. However, it came out before NAMM, didn't it? NAMM itself seems to be a hot place for acoustic piano announcements and other types of digital music equipment, but we have been disappointed with the digital piano stuff every year that I've been paying attention.

If memory serves, last year Yamaha's NU1 came out at Musikmesse and that was the only thing of note around that time it seemed like. At least they brought out their new hybrid for NAMM this year. That's something. Perhaps we can have more at Musikmesse from Kawai and maybe even Yamaha and/or Roland.

I wouldn't plan on Casio, though. The don't have a lot of variety in their line (all their pianos except the really low ones have the same action, for example), so it seems like it's either a replacement for everything they have or nothing.
