Now that i got the incredibly lame pun out of my system... blush

Hello new guy here(and long time lurker)and i am in need of your help.

I have decided to pull the trigger on the excellent kawai vpc1 but i have a small problem. Namely the stand (hence the pun).

There are a couple options at thomann's, http://www.thomann.de/gr/km_18810.htm is the one that is advertised on the vpc1's page but i am not particularly fond of it but if you guys can convince me that it is the one i need well..

The other choices after a bit of searching are http://www.thomann.de/gr/millenium_ks_2000.htm
http://www.thomann.de/gr/km_18953.htm
http://www.thomann.de/gb/km_18880.htm
http://www.thomann.de/gr/km_18950.htm

Aaand if all else fails i wil resort to the trusted and true love of every pianist http://www.thomann.de/gr/millenium_ks2010.htm grin

And for a bit of backround the piano will be "fixed" on my apartment and won't be moved that often so i need something that is sturdy enough for the vpc1 to not wooble and hopefully won't wake up the neighbours (thin walls) when i am banging the keys at 3 am like a good litle vampire. whistle

Glad to be among you guys and thanks for the help! smile

P.s. do i really need a bench http://www.thomann.de/gr/thomann_kb_15bp.htm or is my chair enough?

The K&M 18950 gets my vote. I have one at home supporting an MP8II. wink

As for the bench, it's really up to you...but you'll want to be comfortable at 3am, right? wink

Congrats on the VPC1 by the way! laugh

Cheers,
James

Sorry if i offended anyone with the title,as a non native speaker i always confuse the man/men and their meaning the plan was to imply human both male and female laugh (So men means the male, ok learned something today!)

In more pleasant news i placed the order any ideas what to do to take my mind of the precious while waiting for the days to pass with agonizing slowness?

P.s. If there are any aliens reading piano world (now that would be an interesting first contact scenario) you are included too :P

P.s.s. A stupid question how do you use smileys?

LOL yup! But until then, I have a table stand like the KS 2000. X-stands are not my favorite.

All of the X-stands I have used have an element of end-to-end 'bounce'.
The 18950 (being a table type) won't suffer at all from this and will feel much more sturdy.

I have something like the KM 18950. I prefer the table type versus the X-stand for two reasons - they feel less stable and often your knees can bump up against the crossed legs.

How funny! I have the KM 18950 too. It is great. Sturdy and adjustable on all four legs and in length. I use it for the FP-80. It is also great when gigging because it folds nicely and quickly.

The bad side: It's a bit high. I have it on the lowest level and it is still higher than a 'real' piano.
