Ok, so all of the major stage pianos have been basically updated, can we assume that Kawai will be putting in their 2 cents for this genre of keyboard? I know NAMM is next week and I surely will have to wait, but maybe Kawai James can give us a teaser or something. I'm finally upgrading and buying a new gig/home practice digital piano this year, so I'm evaluating which will be the "one", lol. I do like speakers but I don't mind not having them either. Actually if the price is right, I may just ultimately buy a Yamaha P-255 and call it day, but I have a feeling that Kawai might upgrade their MP line with some nice stage pianos next week.

Hey, Kawai James can you give any teasers to hold us over until next week?
Pretty please, lol.

Yeah, give us a teaser. It's about time for a new Kawai flagship. And it had better have GF!

I think it's highly likely they will be coming out with something next week, it's just a matter of what it is. I think we will have to wait! smile

Inquiring minds want to know, James. Surely, we are close enough to this event to get some kind of small hint as to what we may expect from Kawai?

I've been holding off buying a MP6 until I find out of there's something newer/better. If they do release a newer version of the MP6, will the prices drop on remaining inventory of the MP6?

I am sworn to secrecy, I'm afraid.

However, this might be interesting:

Asides from an MP11/7 Kawai should release a true hybrid (Concert-grand action included).

Dang, that's quite a teaser. I can't tell what it is, which makes me think it must be big and important. smile

Every year, a few days into NAMM, we get the same few threads complaining that nothing interesting happened at NAMM this year. Maybe this time will be different...

The Future of the Piano?

that wouldn't be something like Roland's "The piano of the future" V-Piano, would it? I hope not.

O.K. Guys…
I've been doing a bit of digging. Earlier, in another thread, it was reported that French and Italian websites were displaying an MP11, but those were written off as likely the MP10.

Tonight, using Google's translation feature, I was able to access the Italian site and read the details of the specs for the MP11, and see a picture. Clearly you can see in the photo that the arrangement of cluster's on the left side of the board is different than the current MP10. Enlarge the picture and it appears that the logo/identifier on the right side of the board reads "MP11," not "MP10." Also worth mentioning are the following differences:

Specs show 256 not polyphony (MP10 is 192) Note: It's noted in the description
that maximum polyphony is 256, more than any competitor.
6 reverbs and 129 effects (MP10 is 7 reverbs and 25 effects)
GF action (MP10 has RM3)- mention is made of being #1 pivot, length comparable
to grand piano; so this is clearly not RM3
Weight is 32.5 kg (MP10 is 31.8 kg)
40 internal sounds (MP10 has 27)
208 setups (MP10 has 156)
4 band equalizer (3 for MP10)
4 zone midi control-all independently adjustable (MP10 has single zone midi
control)
Ships with 3 pedal unit (MP10 ships with F20 -2 pedal unit)

Finally, this web site lists this as a "New" digital from Kawai

I have included a link to the Google translation page:
http://translate.googleusercontent.com/translate_c?depth=1&hl=en&prev=/search%3Fq%3DKawai%2BMP11%2Bstage%2Bpiano%26client%3Dsafari%26rls%3Den&rurl=translate.google.com&sl=it&u=http://www.mercatinomusicale.com/mm/a_kawai-mp11-stage-piano-pianoforte-digitale-da-palco-mp-11_id3398749.html&usg=ALkJrhjX9yEJDDZ1UKEVtr9D7jXl8hQCnw

Be sure to open the "product page" in the section to the right for additional write up, pictures and description...

You can inspect this information for yourself, and draw your own conclusions.
James, it would be easy enough for you to deny that this information is accurate…
what say ye?

This is pretty cool, but I would surely be interested in seeing an MP7 and it's specs. It looks like the MP11 will keep the MP10's form factor so I suppose the same for an MP7. I hope they don't cut back too much on a possible MP7 because I simply can not consider the MP11 because of its weight. Whether the MP11 is real or not it's not on my radar just like the MP10 isn't for weight and size reasons. Naturally any MP6 successor would be.

What is the GF action? I have the VPC1 and I love the RM3, so not sure how that can be improved upon smile

The GF action is very similar to the RM3-II of your VPC1 but the length of keys to the pivot is a tad longer in the GF action, making it a little easier going, especially if you are playing far into the black keys. In my experience the difference is not very substantial (and less significant than the step from RM3 with 2 sensors to RM3-II with three sensors).

Ehi... GF inside?!

Kawai James: I remember you said that GF was to heavy or too bulky to be fitted (or "fit"?) in a stage piano. Under this belief I bought my VPC1...

If it is true, a new VPC2 with GF will come soon.

It's time to sell my VPC1....

I was surprised with the heaviness of the VPC, but it's comparable to the action on my Petrof concert, so I like it. I'm really pleased with the VPC1, so I personally don't think you should feel cheated, Qbert.

However, depending on the features of the MP11, I may be swapping pianos smile
