Note: I had already posted this piece in another thread and had no luck identifying it. It was (erroneously?) included in a compilation of Bach music back then. (It sure sounds baroquey.) The few comments it got was that it was not a significant piece of repertoire and not that good of a piece either. However I keep stumbling upon it in various places and it kinda grew on me even more. In the compilation I posted it is listed as "anonymous sonata" (does not sound to me as it fits the sonata structure). Even if it is anonymous I would like to know how it is referred to so that I can search about it. (Also tried playing the intro in musipedia keyboard search but no luck there either)

Thanks.

This can't be Bach. Sounds like some kind of cheap imitation.

@Ganddalf

I see, I think it would be known and easily identified if it was a Bach piece anyway.

Btw., I would like to also ask a question, since your answer resembles the ones I got when I asked this before. (bad piece, insignificant, imitation etc.) First of all I can not say I have excellent classical music/piano music taste, I am rather new to the whole stuff and I am listening to compilations etc. to broaden the pieces I know.

The question: What is it about this piece that people generally seem to have a negative opinion on it? What am I missing, because I seem to enjoy it?

Well, the music on the link makes use of many of the basic elements that Bach used. But it appears more repetitive than most of Bach's works. I also notice that the composer uses pretty massive harmonics to bring forth a relatively simple "message". I can't find many of the melodic lines in the middle voices that are so characteristic for Bach here.

Nothing wrong with enjoying this music. I wouldn't say it is a "bad" piece, but it is not a masterpiece. I recommend that you spend some time listening to Bach music. Not necessarily only piano pieces, but all kinds of music written by this great composer.

I listened to a couple of minutes, starting where the link pointed to. Clearly derivative from the finale of Bach's D Minor keyboard concerto.

This is probably a very overdone transcription of something, perhaps Vivaldi or similar. As sandalholme says, it bears resemblance to the finale of the Bach D minor keyboard concerto, although far less skillfully written, of course.

Working on:
Fauré, Preludes Op. 103
Beethoven trios for an original ballet
Four-hands program of Mozart, Corigliano, Schubert and Barber
And... Nunsense II (whole show)

I love Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven and new music

Thanks everybody so far, although I see some resemblance with the Concerto I think it's entirely a different piece of music so my search continues.
I like it better than the Bach concerto, couldn't gather the courage to post this in plain text laugh

It's like the 3rd Brandenburg concerto in a minor key. Probably some neo baroque thing written for tv
