Did you try Abe Books <http://www.abebooks.com/Canada/> A bookseller on there shows 2 used & 1 new. Also, my public library has copies of an older edition, one with CD & one without (which I don't suppose does you much good, but just to say it seems to still be around.)

I haven't been able to play my pianos for the past two days because of a situation with some idiot neighbors; luckily today they are leaving and I will be able to play my piano again. Meanwhile, I have been playing on an instrument in a local studio. Does that count?

Sorry to hear you are having trouble with your neighbours - I sympathise.

You play the piano. Maybe I should have written play "a" piano.... but just to be perfectly clear let's try to cover all the bases....

Nor does it matter if it is your piano, or that of your neighbour, your teacher, your best friend, your second-cousin-three-times removed, the hotel piano, the cruise ship piano, the piano in your local bar or coffee shop. Any piano, any where, for any amount of time will do the job.

Not a chance for me to play every day. Even having the option of using headphones I'll be stopped by my family. My practice time is early in the morning before going to work. Then I'm the only person awake. During weekends I have to stay away from my piano. The general opinion is that I have better things to do than playing the piano. And certainly, digging in the garden or making repairs on the house are more productive than making music....

Count me in!

I have a terrible confession to make - I have not told my husband I have signed up to this. I think he would share your family's view :-)
The only thing that makes this possible for me is that there is no lower limit on time. If I can say I have met the minimum requirement for a given day even if I just sat at the piano for 2 minutes and played something while simultaneously holding a conversation about superheroes with a 4yo, then I have a chance!
(Of course I do more when I can, and most days I can)

Sitting at the piano for less than half an hour practice does not help me much. Usually I need at least 15 minutes to warm up, and I have to repeat things an enormous number of times to see any improvement. However, I use every opportunity I have to do meaningful practice. Occasionally, when I'm alone in the house I can practice for two or even three hours. But most days I have just half an hour to my disposal, and quite often nothing at all.

Boy oh boy ... this year did not get off to a good start.

I barely practiced on Jan 1, and then didn't put in a minute Jan 2-6. There really is no excuse. I was just dealing with a frustrating schedule, including tasks that kept requiring more and more time to complete and various family obligations, plus I was flat-out exhausted by the final days of 2013.

In any event, I am back on the wagon -- and the bench. My piano teacher helped me sort out a split practice schedule: 10 minutes in the morning with Hanon and scales, an open-ended p.m. session for specific pieces. I am committed to following the plan for 30 days straight so I can finally make practice a daily ritual/habit.

So that's my confession.

I got my copy of "Total Piano Tutor" as pictured by Ragdoll including CD at Half Price Books a year ago for $7.99. I must admit I have not had the time with continuing family crisises to crack it anymore than the color chord charts at the back.

I am sorry! I didn't mean to start a web search frenzy! After looking at Amazon's reviews, it doesn't stack up as well as I thought.

If you don't think it would be illegal, I can scan a page of the chords or email me and ask.

BUT it has been my constant companion keeping me sane while traveling back and forth to northern Ohio and did keep me playing my required time from April to now even if it was table-top playing on a paper keyboard a few days.

I wasn't going to bring it up but I may have assumed wrongly and forgot to ask if that is allowable too. During the court case October 10 & 11 and 23 I didn't have access to a real piano. And too emotional to ask after my nephew’s memorial April 13 but I did ask permission to play the grand December 27 before & 28 after my sister-in-law's memorial.

Even though I have had to temporarily give up my private lessons for the past year, after being involved with this group for this long, I have MOYD to thank for at least finding a few minutes comes second nature now. Playing, however briefly, really has helped to get me through all of this so far and will contiue keep me pulled together for my family.

MOYD doesn't work for all pianists (or their families).

Barbaram, don't worry about telling your hubby ... but then wait a while and tell him how long you've been playing every single day!

I had to really zoom in on the screen to see that, but when I do get up enough 'dutch courage' to submit to a recital I shall have them all lined up ready to celebrate!

Leaving Jan 14th until Jan 28th. My mother in law passed away over the holidays at 96yrs, quietly in her sleep, still in her own home and on her own.She used to play and now my niece has her piano. Life ends but the music goes on.
